Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, it’s tough to stand out. Other times, you barely lift a paw and people fall in love with you just for being yourself.
Tink fits perfectly into the second category.
This pint-sized, no-frills Chihuahua grandma didn’t need to perform or pose to become a sensation. From the moment she arrived at the shelter, she grabbed everyone’s attention, without making the slightest effort to be endearing.
She simply existed, full of quirks, sass, and a bold streak of independence. And somehow, that made her irresistible.
A Chihuahua With Hamster-Sized Charm
When Tink was brought to Skiatook Paws and Claws Animal Rescue in Oklahoma, the staff couldn’t believe her size. She was barely bigger than a hamster. Toothless and delicate, she still managed to radiate more personality than dogs many times her size.
She also had a heart murmur and a fiery attitude to match.
“This is Tink. She is 9 years old. She has no teeth. She has a heart murmur. And she is an absolute menace,” the Oklahoma rescue wrote on Instagram.
Though she was nine, Tink carried herself like a seasoned queen.
“Tink has some spicy spunkiness and we love to see it,” her rescuers added.
She didn’t hesitate to show people who she was and what she wanted. And cuddles? Definitely not on her list.
Tink wasn’t the type to curl up in someone’s lap or nap under a blanket all day. This senior lady liked her space and she wasn’t shy about making that known.
Even in foster care, Tink continues to assert her boundaries.
She’s not one to trail behind her humans or seek constant affection. Tink prefers to coexist peacefully, on her own terms.
She enjoys quiet surroundings, minimal fuss, and plenty of alone time, like a grumpy grandma who treasures her tea and silence.
But instead of being overlooked for her prickly nature, she’s become a fan favorite.
Grumpy And Proud, And Everyone Loves Her For It
Once Tink’s story hit social media, unfiltered, honest, and full of sass, people couldn’t get enough. Her photos and candid personality description lit up the internet, and soon, adoption applications poured in.
More than 200 people wanted to bring this feisty girl home.
“She is still very sus. She still enjoys the presence of no one. We have received 204 apps for her and will choose a good home after her cardiac work up at the vet,” the rescue concluded.
For now, Tink remains in foster care while her health is monitored. Vets recently found she has an enlarged heart and an embolism, both requiring close attention and treatment.
Once she’s cleared medically, Tink will be ready to begin a new chapter with a family that appreciates her quirks and respects her space.
And in return? She’ll bring plenty of sass and personality to their lives.
