Arkansas Dog Tears Hearts Apart After Spending Over 700 Days Waiting For A Family

Arkansas Dog Tears Hearts Apart After Spending Over 700 Days Waiting For A Family

Nobody has told Hashbrown that spending almost two years in a shelter isn’t his fault. That’s what makes his story so difficult to accept.

This sweet Pittie mix is everything you could want in a companion. He’s gentle, playful, rarely barks, loves people, and is eager to shower affection on anyone who gives him the chance.

But because of the Pitbull ban in Arkansas, Hashbrown has been overlooked time and time again.

Very soon, he will mark two full years in the shelter, and his spirit is quietly wearing down.

A Dog Who Just Wants Love

Hashbrown arrived at the Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter in Sherwood, Arkansas, years ago. From the first day, this black-and-white boy has done nothing but show kindness to everyone he meets.

“He most likely gets overlooked because he is very quiet, doesn’t bark, he isn’t one to say ‘Hey! tail wag, tail wag, jump, jump look at me!’,” his adoption profile explains.

Sadly, his breed has only made his adoption search harder.

Because of the restrictions on Pitbull-type dogs, many potential adopters hesitate, even though Hashbrown has proven himself to be nothing but gentle.

As other dogs are adopted and begin new lives, Hashbrown remains behind in his kennel, waiting for someone to finally notice him.

Despite the long wait, his happy nature hasn’t faded. He’s affectionate, enjoys playtime, and is always ready to make friends. The shelter staff describe him as the perfect example of loyalty and kindness.

“If we got to re-name Hashbrown we would name him Goodest because he is the goodest boy ever,” his profile adds.

Susan, a devoted volunteer, has spent countless hours with Hashbrown and knows firsthand how much love he has to give.

Over 600 days and nights stuck in a kennel. Poor Hashbrown. It’s not fair at all! He needs a hero ASAP. If you live in a city that allows pitties and can open your heart and home to my buddy here who needs to be the only dog in the home, please DM me or reach out to @shasAdoptables. 🙏🐾🥹🫶😤 #hashbrownthedog #sherwoodanimalshelter #sherwoodarkansas #centralarkansas #pittiesoftiktok #rescuepittie #rescuedog #sheltervolunteer #shelterdog #adoptdontshop #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #fosteringsaveslives

To mark his 600th day in the shelter, she shared a touching video of him resting quietly on his blanket, eyes full of longing as he watched people pass him by.

Still Holding On

The team at Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter has not given up hope. They believe there is a family out there who will finally see Hashbrown for who he truly is: a gentle, playful, and loving dog who deserves happiness.

Each day he spends at the shelter is another reminder of how urgently he needs a forever home. While the staff keep him safe and cared for, it’s still a stressful environment for any dog, especially after so much time.

Even so, Hashbrown has not lost hope.

He is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. His ideal home would have a secure six-foot fence and a yard where he can stretch his legs. He would thrive as the only pet but could also live with a female dog if introduced properly.

Hashbrown is ready. All he needs is someone willing to give him the chance he’s been waiting for.
