This is exactly the story of Rogue, a Pittie from Oregon. After enduring terrible events, she was left frightened and without a home, until fate introduced her to the person who would change everything.
From Emergency Care To A Forever Family
Rogue’s life took a tragic turn when she was caught in a drive-by. She was in a car with her siblings when shots rang out. Rogue was struck in the paw and became the only survivor.
“The dogs were in the car and there was only one that survived, the puppy, and that was Rogue,” Katie told Cuddle Buddies.
In a single moment, Rogue lost her entire family. The trauma of that day left her shaken and uncertain, but she somehow managed to hold on.
Not long after, a woman named Katie from McMinnville, Oregon, happened to be at the same emergency clinic with her English Bulldog, Chubz. When she saw Rogue, she felt an instant pull toward the frightened pup.
Despite everything she had endured, Rogue lit up whenever Katie and Chubz were nearby. She wagged her tail, leaned into them, and revealed a spark of the loving dog she truly was.
Katie began visiting regularly, sitting with Rogue during treatments and letting Chubz keep her company. Their play sessions quickly became the highlight of Rogue’s day.
It didn’t take long before Katie realized she couldn’t let Rogue go. She adopted her, and the three of them walked out of the clinic together, ready for a brand-new life.
Within weeks, Rogue blossomed into a joyful, playful girl who finally knew what it felt like to be safe.
Rogue And Stewie, A Bond That Heals
Life at her new home was wonderful, but eventually tragedy struck again. Chubz passed away, leaving the whole family heartbroken. Rogue grieved deeply for her best friend, feeling the loss of her constant companion.
Katie, wanting to heal both Rogue’s heart and her own, made a decision. After six months, she welcomed another Pittie into their lives—Stewie.
The change in Rogue was almost immediate. With Stewie by her side, she started smiling again, showing the same joy she once had with Chubz.
“Over the last several months we watched their love for one another grow so strong – we just knew we couldn’t separate them. Rogue raised herself a soulmate for a best friend, and Stewie learned a love deeper than any other,” Katie shared.
Rogue slipped naturally into the role of big sister. She guided Stewie, taught him the ropes, and made sure he felt safe. In return, Stewie followed her everywhere, never letting her feel alone.
“They share spaces meant for one dog,” Katie said with a laugh.
Their connection quickly became unbreakable. Whether at home or out on adventures, Rogue and Stewie are always side by side. Their parents even admit it’s tough to leave them at doggy daycare because of how close they are.
Today, Rogue is thriving in her Oregon home with Stewie by her side. Katie couldn’t be happier to see her resilient girl finally living the life she deserves—full of love, security, and endless companionship.
