What do you do when your dog turns out to be the clingiest member of the household?
For Kevin, a lovable Bernese Mountain Dog, and his mom, Dionna, the answer is simple: just embrace it!
This big fluffy shadow has countless tricks up his sleeve to keep his mom focused on him. And while he’s naturally needy, life with Kevin is never dull.
Here’s how he does it!
Kevin’s Clever Tactics

Dionna Hickox and her husband, Justin, live in Portland, Oregon, and welcomed Kevin into their family years ago. Since then, it’s been nonstop fun.
Kevin never misses a chance to “help” his mom with her daily activities, especially when she works out at home. For him, it’s the perfect time to join in.
“When he was a puppy, it would just start with him tugging on my hair or on my ponytail. Or jumping on my back when I’m trying to do a push-up,” Dionna told The Dodo.
As he grew, Kevin perfected one special method to grab attention: stealing Dionna’s beanie!
“He’s like: -Okay, if I take his, she’s gonna chase me,” Dionna explained.
Snatching the beanie straight from her head is his ultimate move. Once it’s in his mouth, Kevin knows the game is on, and playtime officially begins.

What starts as a chase around the house often ends in a goofy wrestling session and always wraps up with snuggles.
For Dionna and Justin, Kevin’s clinginess only makes him more lovable.
Why Being Clingy Works For Him

Of course, Kevin doesn’t stop at beanie theft. He has plenty of other ways to put himself center stage.
During family meals, he simply rests his head gently on the table or on someone’s lap, gazing up with those big Berner eyes.
“Even when it’s not my beanie, when we’re eating dinner, he puts his head lovingly on our arm or on our lap. And if we don’t respond to that, then he has no problem just batting our arm a few times,” Dionna shared.
Along with his furry brother, Benny, Kevin keeps his humans constantly entertained. Between dinner interruptions, cuddles, and games, he certainly knows how to run the household.

But life with Kevin isn’t just about attention-seeking at home. He joins his family for road trips, long walks, and cozy naps. He’s traveled, visited new places, and has been part of every adventure.
“He definitely rules our life, and we love that! At least 10 times a day, I look him in the face, and I’m like: -Thank you for loving me,” Dionna said.
There’s no doubt Kevin adores his people just as much as they adore him. With all his antics, affection, and energy, he’s the very definition of a happy Bernese Mountain Dog.
