Texas Foster Puppies Go Crazy With Excitement When Their Mama Joins A Foster Home Too

Texas Foster Puppies Go Crazy With Excitement When Their Mama Joins A Foster Home Too

Two Chihuahua puppies that looked nearly identical arrived at a Fort Worth, Texas, shelter at different times. As soon as the second one was brought in, the staff suspected they were siblings. It later turned out that they were right.

Sadly, the overcrowded shelter and the fact that these puppies were so young and without their mom placed them at high risk of euthanasia.

Thankfully, the volunteers at Fort Worth Abandoned Animal Alliance quickly stepped in. The rescue wasted no time and found a foster home for the pups.

At first, though, things did not go smoothly.

Everything Changed When She Arrived

Madeleine, their foster mom, welcomed the puppies and named them Reeses and Snickers. But for two days, the little ones barely moved. They were weak, quiet, and refused to eat. Madeleine grew increasingly worried.

Then, a message brought hope. The president of the rescue texted her: “I think we found the momma…?”

FWAAA explained that a local trapper had spotted a small black Chihuahua in the same area where the puppies had been found. Everyone hoped it was their missing mother.

Madeleine waited anxiously as the rescue brought the little dog in a cage to her home. The moment Reeses and Snickers saw her, their joy was undeniable.

“That is definitely Momma,” Madeleine exclaimed. The reunion was a scene of pure happiness, something everyone wished they could have witnessed in person.

From that moment, the puppies were completely different. Madeleine named their mom Godiva, and as soon as she was with them, the pups began eating, playing, and behaving like healthy, happy puppies.

“The change was amazing,” Madeleine said with a smile.

The reunion marked the beginning of a new chapter. With their mother by their side, the puppies gained the confidence to interact and show their personalities.

“They were much more ready to bond with me and play with me,” Madeleine explained.

What made her happiest was their eagerness to explore the world. They loved going outside, running around, and playing with other dogs.

Although still very attached to Godiva, the pups started venturing away, each day a little more independent.

Snickers, the brown puppy, had a harder time separating from his mom because of his shy nature. Even so, he was slowly gaining confidence and showing progress.

“We know he is gaining confidence in us and in himself,” Madeleine said. “That is my favorite part of fostering them.”

The little family was finally thriving and ready for the next step in their journey.

A Happy Ending For The Whole Family

Before long, the puppies were strong enough for adoption, and FWAAA proudly shared the good news.

“Reeces (now Bentley) is adopted!!! Happy tails little one, your FWAAA family loves you!” the rescue wrote on Facebook.

Just days later, another post followed. This time it was Snickers’s turn. His adopter renamed him Harry, and he too headed off to a forever home.

That left only their mother, Godiva. For months, no happy adoption post appeared about her, and Madeleine could not stop thinking about the sweet dog who had gone through so much.

Eventually, she realized that she could not let Godiva go.

“This sweet momma has had quite the journey, from a life on the streets, to the most heartwarming reunion with her puppies, and even being featured on The Dodo! Turns out, she was home all along and was officially adopted yesterday by her foster family!” FWAAA announced.

And so, the story of Reeses, Snickers, and Godiva came full circle. From a rough beginning to an extraordinary reunion, their journey became a fairy tale that proved miracles do happen.
