When McStuffins arrived at Border Tails Rescue in Northbrook, Illinois, after being transferred from Chicago Animal Care and Control, she instantly stole the hearts of the shelter staff.
The pup’s sweet personality, boundless energy and her heterochromia made her unforgettable, and everyone was sure that she would soon get her happy ending.
And when McStuffins got adopted shortly afterwards, it seemed that she had finally found the love she deserved.
But just a few months later, something unexpected happened.
McStuffins Gets Returned
Sadly, after enjoying the warmth of home for several months, McStuffins was surrendered to the shelter.
Her friends, Eric Noxon and Joey Masloski, the content creators who run a TikTok page that helps raise awareness of overlooked shelter dogs, were heartbroken to learn that McStuffins had been returned.
“It breaks my heart, because she’s so sweet. She just has a bundle of energy, and I think that’s the only thing kind of holding her back,” Noxon said in a TikTok video.
Noxon and Masloski regularly visited the dog at the shelter, and spent quality time with her playing fetch and going on runs. The more time they spent together, the more they got attached to her.
On one occasion, Noxon and Masloski came to the shelter to pick up McStuffins for a playdate and learned that she moved in with her new family. They were overjoyed. Just like all her friends, they hoped that this was the happy ending she had been waiting for.
Sadly, McStuffins’ hopes were crushed again. After spending only 24 hours with her new family, the pup returned to the Illinois shelter.
A volunteer at Border Tails Rescue believed that at least the pup wasn’t disappointed because she must have thought that her stay with her new family was only a sleepover.
When a new family got interested in McStuffins and decided to adopt her, everyone thought that things finally started looking up for her. The doggo was excited. She was ready to start the happiest chapter of her life.
Heartbreakingly, the family who promised to adopt her never showed up, leaving McStuffins heartbroken.
The Dog’s Behavior Starts Declining
Since the doggo ended up spending a lot of time in her shelter kennel, her behavior started declining. Her heart was full of love, but she had nobody to give it to.
It was extremely challenging for her to be on her best behavior while she was isolated in her kennel.
“It shows you what happens when they sit in the shelter. McStuffins … she’s getting worse and worse,” a Border Tails Rescue volunteer said in a TikTok video.
Noxon and Masloski refuse to give up on the precious dog.
They appreciate her previous adopters who tried but couldn’t keep her. Thanks to these experiences, McStuffins’ friends learned that the dog needed to be the only pet in the household and that she would do best with a family who had an active lifestyle.
“Thank you to McStuffins’ previous adopter for giving her a shot. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to learn as much as we did,” Noxon said in a TikTok.
The pup continues waiting for someone who will recognize all the qualities that she has and who will love her just the way she is.
Noxon and Masloski are confident that McStuffins will soon meet her forever humans, and they won’t stop until she does.
