Hawaii Rescuers Shocked After Finding A Helpless Creature Stuck In A Concrete Wall

Bruce and Sue, a compassionate couple from Maui, Hawaii, have dedicated their lives to helping innocent animals in need.

But sometimes, even the most experienced rescuers come across situations that are truly shocking. This was one of those moments.

During one of their regular feeding routes, they stumbled upon a heartbreaking sight: a helpless animal with its head stuck inside a hole in a concrete wall, struggling desperately to break free.

Though taken aback, Bruce and Sue knew they had to act quickly

What Is It

The couple immediately contacted the Maui Humane Society, and within minutes, Officer Kaitlyn Mason from the Department of Humane Enforcement arrived at the scene.

Upon closer inspection, they realized the trapped animal was a feral cat. She had been frantically trying to free herself, but all she could do now was wait for help.

The poor feline was wedged tightly, and the little space inside the wall offered no relief.

Simply pulling her out wasn’t an option. Kaitlyn and the couple feared that tugging too hard might injure her neck, so they decided to carefully carve away the concrete instead.

“With little space inside the wall and not wanting to risk pulling too hard on her neck, Officer Mason and Bruce began to chisel away at the concrete. After some careful work, they managed to set her free,” the Maui Humane Society shared on Facebook.

Bit by bit, they chipped away until the cat’s head finally became visible.

In the final step, Bruce assisted Kaitlyn in gently removing the remaining pieces of concrete from around the cat’s neck. And then — at last — she was free.

The rescuers named her Kaity, in honor of her hero that day.

Thankfully, She Is Safe Now

As a precaution, Kaitlyn took Kaity to a vet clinic to make sure she hadn’t suffered any injuries. Bruce and Sue anxiously waited for news.

The very next day, they were overjoyed to hear the update: Kaity was completely healthy. After being spayed, she was returned to the couple’s property, where her feral colony lived.

“Thankfully, she had no injuries, and after being spayed, she was returned to Bruce and Sue’s property the next day,” the Maui Humane Society wrote.

Bruce and Sue welcomed her back warmly, even preparing a special treat to celebrate her rescue. Kaity was showered with love and plenty of scritches.

Now, with her ordeal behind her, Kaity is once again roaming free, ready to continue her adventures with her feline companions.

Good luck, Kaity — and maybe avoid concrete walls from now on!
