New Jersey Dog Faces Glass Stairs For The First Time And His Hilarious Reaction Shocks His Owner

Every dog parent has, at some point, witnessed a moment that made them laugh out loud. Sometimes it is the smallest thing, and our pups’ unpredictable reactions make it even funnier.

I know for certain that my own dog despised the sound of an apple falling, and every time it happened he completely overreacted.

Moments like these remind us how easily dogs get confused by things we take for granted.

Today’s story comes from New Jersey, where one woman tried to coax her dog up a set of glass stairs, only to be met with a reaction she never expected.

When Sniper first arrived at his forever home, he was still a tiny pup. Six months have passed since that adoption day, and he has grown a lot.

Still, his curious personality remains the same, and he often finds himself baffled by the simplest things he encounters.

His owner loves capturing these little moments on video, and while there are plenty of them, one stood out above all the rest.

That moment came when she encouraged Sniper to climb a set of glass stairs. To her surprise, he had no intention of going up.

The see-through steps completely confused him, and instead of moving forward, he barked loudly. Because the stairs were transparent, he could not figure out where to begin.

His owner called him several times, hoping he would try again, but it was no use. Sniper had already decided he was not setting foot on those stairs.

After the New Jersey owner posted the clip of Sniper struggling to make sense of the glass steps, the video drew plenty of attention online.

One person commented: “Dogs see in black and white, the glass staircase seems kind of invisible/see-through to him and difficult to tell if it’s a solid structure apart from the white wall it can see past ahead. This is the reason it keeps going towards the wall ahead to check for the stairs. You may be required to tint the glass stairs using dark shade colors…

I had actually heard this before, but I always assumed glass stairs must still be visible to dogs in some way. Maybe I was wrong.

Another person said: “Y’all need a center rug runner up those stairs. That seems dangerous for dogs and people.

I can’t say for sure, but in some cases glass steps may indeed pose a problem. In this situation, adding a runner could make things easier for Sniper.

Finally, one commenter joked: “If he cant see glass, im guessing he thought you were flying as you went to fetch him.

That may have been true at first, but his owner has since taught him how to use the stairs. The illusion is gone now.

Even so, Sniper’s initial reaction was hilarious to watch, and it serves as a reminder that dogs often get tripped up by everyday things. We never know what will confuse them, so it is important to guide them through new experiences.
