It can be pretty shocking for any rescuer when they see an obese dog who was overfed by his owners and then either abandoned or surrendered.
Situations like this just make you wonder why owners would do something like this. I mean, it’s not exactly ‘neglect’, but in a way, it is.
Any owner who overfeeds their dog is neglecting their health and well-being and this means that pups end up living a lot less because of their obesity.
When this overweight pup was first brought to the Contented Critters in Minnesota, his rescuers were in complete shock by his appearance.
He Needed A Diet Immediately
Frank’s story was a tragic one. When the owner of Contented Critters first brought him to his shelter, Frank had already been in another rescue organization
He was brought there by animal control officers after his previous owner was arrested. He was a senior dog who weighed 37 pounds.
This was just shocking, so his rescuer decided to help him lose at least 17 pounds. This pup was so seriously overweight that he could barely move.
So, the weight loss journey started for Frank. His rescuer kept him on a tight schedule regarding diet and exercise.
In just one month, Frank had made tremendous progress and lost 7 pounds. This was still far from perfect, but in such a short amount of time, it was just incredible.
He loved being around other people. His tail would wag anytime his rescuer came to see him, and he was slowly learning to play.
While his journey is still not over, we can expect Frank to make an even bigger transformation than the first one very soon. His whole life is changing by the day and it’s amazing to see what he can do now.

After making such amazing progress, the rescuer from Minnesota posted a video of it on his TikTok channel.
There were many positive reactions to Frank’s story, and everyone is hopeful that he will completely turn his life around.
One person commented: “Seeing Frank in his original physical condition had me crying. Unbelievably sad. Thank you for helping him have a better life! Was he owned by an elderly person who over fed him thinking that equated to care and love. Many times that happens and they can’t physically walk the dog either. Again. Yay for Frank!”
It’s so comforting to know how much support Frank is getting on the internet. His story is really an inspirational one and it shows how much can be accomplished with time and effort.
Another person said: “Maybe put a little shirt on him to protect his belly from dragging.”
They actually did this. He has a few shirts that his rescuer puts on him. He looks really good in all of them.
Lastly, somebody commented: “Is he doing any water therapy? It’s a good way for him to lose weight but not put pressure on his joints and muscles.”
I am pretty sure he is getting all the help that he needs and he is continuing to get better with every day. That’s all that matters. Everyone is hopeful that Frank will get to live a life he always deserved.
