So many times, sick and neglected animals have stunned everyone by transforming into healthy, joyful companions—all because someone cared enough to give them love.

Meet Mrs. Greg
When an animal control officer spotted a stray pup wandering the streets alone, he quickly brought her to a local shelter. This little dog, named Mrs. Greg, was in heartbreaking condition.
The shelter didn’t have the resources to provide the treatment she needed, so she was transferred to Austin Pets Alive!, where she finally received proper care.
“Mrs. Greg was in poor condition. She tested positive for parvovirus and had severe sarcoptic mange,” Luis Sanchez, director of public relations and communications at Austin Pets Alive!, told The Dodo.
Parvo often comes with grim outcomes, but Mrs. Greg wasn’t ready to give up. She fought hard—and against the odds, she pulled through.
Her battle with mange, however, dragged on, and her fur refused to grow back. The staff feared this might make it harder for her to be adopted. But then, one person looked past her appearance and saw the beautiful soul within.
That person was Olivia, who adopted Mrs. Greg and gave her a new name: Winnie. From the start, Olivia was committed to helping her pup heal completely and live the life she always deserved.
A New Life
Even after adoption, Winnie continued facing some health challenges.
“I know she fought through the parvo and mange in the shelter and it took a while for her to be fully okay after being adopted. She kept getting sick and having tummy issues, but she was a trooper and a happy puppy through it all,” Olivia told The Dodo.
Whether or not Winnie’s fur would return was uncertain—but to Olivia, it didn’t matter. She adored her brave little survivor exactly as she was.
The Fluffiest Transformation
Then, against all odds, Winnie stunned everyone. Slowly but surely, her coat began to grow—and before long, she was covered in the most beautiful, fluffy fur.
“I cannot believe how much fur she has now. I feel like she keeps getting more!” said Olivia.
Now fully settled into her forever home, Winnie has shed every trace of her difficult past. Once hairless and frail, she’s blossomed into a healthy, happy pup with the softest, prettiest coat.
Her story proves just how powerful love and patience can be in turning a broken life around.
