California Dog Was Abandoned By Breeders With Her Unborn Puppies When She Was No Longer Profitable

California Dog Was Abandoned By Breeders With Her Unborn Puppies When She Was No Longer Profitable

Cruel breeding practices not only lack compassion, but also put countless dogs in serious danger.

These methods exploit animals for profit, often leaving them neglected or discarded once they can no longer produce puppies worth money.

When that happens, dogs are left to fend for themselves, many abandoned in heartbreaking conditions with little chance of survival.

This is exactly what happened to Solari, a pregnant mama dog whose breeders tossed her aside when her puppies were no longer selling.

They had no concern if she or her unborn litter would freeze, starve, or suffer out on the streets.

A Couple Opens Their Home To Solari

Lisa and Grant, a couple from Victorville, California, noticed a pregnant pup wandering around their neighborhood and immediately stepped in to help.

They knew exactly where she had come from. Their neighbors were backyard breeders who had used her to produce litters, then threw her out once she was no longer profitable.

Lisa told We Love Animals, “Our neighbors are backyard breeders and so this is a dog that they used to breed, but I guess last time they tried to sell the puppies and nobody wanted them, so they decided that they were going to just kick her out of their yard by boarding up the back fence and just let her roam the neighborhood.”

They didn’t show her a shred of care or compassion.

“She wanders the neighborhood, she gets attached by other dogs, and she doesn’t have a home”, said Lisa.

After weeks of seeing her wander aimlessly and stop by their home, Lisa and Grant finally decided to take her in.

A few days later, Solari gave birth to eight tiny, precious puppies.

The couple now had a whole family to care for. They reached out to shelters in the area, but every one of them was full. So, they chose to take responsibility themselves, determined to give the mama and her litter the love they deserved.

Solari proved to be a wonderful mother. But beneath her devotion, it was clear she was starved not just for food, but also for affection that she had never experienced before.

“You could tell she wanted the attention, but she had had such a hard time asking for it from her previous ‘owners’. But since we’ve taken her in, she’s absolutely a different dog,” Grant said.

For the first time, she got to play with toys, learn commands, and enjoy being treated like a real family pet. Solari blossomed into a joyful, intelligent dog.

Her puppies thrived as well, though heartbreak struck when one passed away at just four days old. The rest continued to grow healthy, playful, and full of life.

“The adoption process has been really fun. We actually received a tremendous amount of support and want to adopt mama dog too. She’s a great mom, but she finally gets to have her rest. She gets to just be a dog for the rest of her life,” Lisa said.

The couple received over 100 adoption applications in a single day, but they carefully ensured each pup went to a loving, responsible home.

A New Beginning For Solari And Her Family

Though their journey began with heartbreak, Solari and her puppies found the happy ending they deserved. Every pup was adopted into a safe home, and Lisa and Grant even kept one of the boys, now named Eru.

Inspired by this experience, the couple founded Sun Village Animal Rescue in Victorville, California. Their mission is to give dogs like Solari a second chance at life.

“Solari will forever hold a special place in our heart. Without her, none of this would have been possible. She was a God-given gift that we were tasked to nurture and love with our whole hearts. We wouldn’t change anything for the world,” it states on the rescue’s website

Thanks to their compassion, many more dogs have already been saved and placed into loving families through their nonprofit.
