How could anyone abandon a defenseless puppy in such conditions and walk away? Did they believe that this tiny soul didn’t deserve food, water, or even a chance to live? These painful questions come to mind every time I witness these poor furbabies left behind.
One recent case in Houston, Texas, was particularly shocking. A kindhearted woman received a call about a puppy abandoned near a dumpster. When she arrived, what she found nearly broke her.
Inside a small cardboard box lay a fragile pup, later named Tully, barely moving. Gathering all her strength, she rushed to save the helpless baby.
A Heartless Abandonment
Samantha Dix, the founder of Street Life To The Sweet Life in Houston, Texas, has always been an unwavering voice for animals in need. She has devoted her life to helping those with no one else to turn to — and Tully’s case was no different.
When Samantha discovered the pup on the brink of collapse, she immediately leapt into action.
Tully was weak, starving, and gravely ill. No one knew how long she had gone without food or water. She was so malnourished and sick that she seemed only moments away from losing her fight for life.
Without hesitation, Samantha scooped up the tiny dog and rushed her straight to the emergency clinic.
“This critical puppy is being rushed to Vergi ER in Houston. It’s still alive and we hope we found this baby in time. This puppy will need immediate hospitalization and likely blood transfusions,” Street Life To The Sweet Life shared on Facebook.
Signs Of Hope
Thanks to the dedicated veterinary team, Tully quickly received lifesaving treatment. The relief was immense when she tested negative for heartworms and was declared out of immediate danger. Still, she was fighting parasites and required round-the-clock care before she could truly recover.
Samantha was overwhelmed with gratitude that they had reached Tully just in time. Watching her fight back and regain strength so quickly was nothing short of miraculous.
With love and medical care, Tully blossomed into the sweetest little lovebug.
“It’s crazy how quick she bounced back with ER care,” Samantha shared on Instagram.
“Tully did it! She survived a heavy parasite load. She is heading home to her foster mom now,” she added.
The best news of all came just weeks later. After recovering in a caring foster home, Tully was adopted by a wonderful woman in Wisconsin.
“Tully was adopted today in Wisconsin,” Samantha wrote joyfully alongside a picture of Tully with her new mom.
The bond was instant — Tully and her adopter were smitten with each other from the very start. Together, they began a beautiful new life.
Now, Tully is thriving and finally enjoying the love and security she had always deserved, far away from the fear and neglect of her past.
