When Audray Luck, the founder of Luck’s Rescue, received calls that a heavily pregnant dog had been dumped in a Georgia neighborhood, she drove to the spot and began searching for her, determined to help.
She located the dog, later named Ginger, quickly, but the frightened mama slipped into the woods and disappeared from easy view.
Audray followed as best she could, only to find that Ginger had melted into thick brush, making the rescue far more difficult than it first seemed.
Still, Audray remained committed, ready to do whatever it took to bring the expectant dog to safety as soon as possible.
A Shy Mama Hides Among The Thicket

After some time, Audray spotted Ginger again and started offering food, resolved to reach her that day and coax her out.
The dog kept her distance, watching from afar; Audray could see the conflict in her eyes, wanting to trust but pulled back by fear.
Every attempt to close the gap ended the same way, with Ginger’s anxious gaze and a quick retreat into the trees.
As the hours passed and Ginger remained elusive, the rescuer’s concern grew stronger.
“If I didn’t catch her, she was gonna have her puppies in the woods, and they wouldn’t survive through the cold,” Audray told The Dodo.
Audray refused to give up, she continued tracking Ginger, leaving small treats and speaking in a calm, soothing voice to ease her.
She planned to use food as a gentle lure and waited patiently, hoping the mama would feel safe enough to come closer.
The rescuer felt a rush of relief when Ginger began inching forward, one careful step at a time.

Audray’s approach proved successful, and two hours later Ginger emerged from the Georgia woods into clearer ground.
Audray moved in gently and began handfeeding her, earning a bit more trust with each offered bite.
The pup started to relax, wagging her tail and allowing Audray to stroke her for the very first time, a small but meaningful breakthrough.

Even as Audray cuddled Ginger, she worried the dog might bolt.
“The moment she let me pet her, I held my breath, afraid that she was gonna run away again,” Audray added.
Despite a sorrowful expression, Ginger made the brave choice to trust, seeming to sense that Audray only wanted to help.
A Safe Place And A Brand New Start

Overjoyed, Audray slipped a leash over Ginger’s neck and exhaled in relief.
With the help of volunteers, they transported the expectant mama to a foster home where she could finally decompress and rest.

That very night Ginger gave birth to ten puppies, a dramatic and miraculous turn after hours of uncertainty.
She seemed to smile as she nursed them, tending each one with patient, obvious affection and relief.

Thanks to the constant care of their mother and the support of their foster family, the pups thrived, growing quickly into playful, healthy youngsters.
Both Ginger and her puppies are now ready for adoption; they are eager to meet their forever humans and begin a new life by their side.
