Cheesecake was a small stray wandering through Oklahoma until she was rescued by the organization A Friend of Jack.
Not long after, a woman named Iliana Broad learned that this gentle pup was searching for a foster home. The moment she laid eyes on Cheesecake, Iliana fell in love and knew she wanted to take her in.
Cheesecake Starts A Fresh Chapter

Since Iliana lived in Denver, Cheesecake needed to be flown from Oklahoma. She didn’t seem to mind at all, excited for the better life that awaited her.
“At that stage, our goal is really just to make sure the new foster settles in OK, eats food and starts filling out and gaining weight, and can get some rest,” said Iliana.

Cheesecake quickly adjusted to her new surroundings, but Iliana began noticing that her foster pup might be hiding a very big secret.
“I realized she was showing some early pregnancy signs. I asked the women at A Friend of Jack if they had been told she was pregnant, and they said there was no indication that she was, but that I should take her to the vet for a quick scan. We went to the closest vet, and they said there were no visible puppies in any imaging.“
A Hidden Surprise Emerges
Even though the vet was confident Cheesecake wasn’t pregnant, Iliana brought her home and kept a careful watch.

Over the following days, Cheesecake’s belly grew noticeably larger, convincing Iliana that something indeed was happening.
She had a feeling that the pup was pregnant and reasoned that during the first vet visit, Cheesecake was likely in the very early stages, which is why the scans hadn’t revealed anything.
Iliana decided it was time for a second vet visit. This time, the scans shocked everyone: Cheesecake was not only pregnant, but she was only days away from giving birth.

“The imaging showed so many puppies that we couldn’t even be sure how many there were. One vet said nine, another said ten, and we all just laughed about how bonkers that imaging was!“
Welcoming The Little Ones
A week later, with Iliana’s assistance, Cheesecake gave birth to nine healthy, energetic puppies.
Following a dessert-themed idea, each puppy was named after a cake flavor inspired by their mother: Mocha, Oreo, Pumpkin, Strawberry, Blueberry, Cocoa, Fudge, Vanilla Bean, and Turtle.

Unfortunately, immediately after giving birth, Cheesecake became very ill and could not nurse her litter.
Iliana stepped in once more, and with the help of her partner, began bottle-feeding each pup individually. Although it was hard work, Iliana embraced it wholeheartedly.

After such a shared journey, the couple couldn’t imagine parting with Cheesecake, and they officially adopted her.
Happily Ever After For Cheesecake
As the puppies grew strong and healthy, all nine found loving forever homes quickly.
Cheesecake, meanwhile, now enjoys her life fully, no longer needing to worry about the hardships of living on the streets. She can focus solely on herself and the love surrounding her.
