Every dog deserves to feel safe, loved, and cared for. As pet parents, we do everything possible to give our four-legged friends the happiest life. There’s nothing better than waking up to their wagging tails and bright eyes each morning.
If only every pup had someone who truly cared for them. Sadly, many are betrayed by the very people who should protect them the most.
This is the story of Mica, a sweet little dog who was abandoned without mercy and left lying on a thin blanket in a ditch. Hungry and shivering, she curled up tightly, silently hoping someone would find her and take her away from that lonely place.
The Moment Everything Changed
When Diana, an animal lover and rescuer, came across the frightened pup trembling in the ditch, her heart broke. She spoke gently, whispering soft words and blowing kisses to calm her down, trying to let her know she wasn’t alone anymore.
Carefully, Diana inched closer, moving slowly so she wouldn’t scare her. Finally, she slipped a leash over the pup’s head.
The moment Diana lifted her into her arms, the little dog buried her face against her chest, still shaking. She held her close and stroked her fur, hoping to make her feel safe again.
As soon as they were in the car, Diana called her friend Samantha Dix, a fellow rescuer and the founder of Street Life To The Sweet Life. Without hesitation, Samantha agreed to foster the pup.
Samantha and her husband, George, open their home to dogs through Lola’s Lucky Day, a non-profit that works to save animals across Houston and Dallas, Texas.
A Home Filled With Kindness
The first time Samantha saw Mica, her heart melted. The little pup’s brindle coat shimmered in the light, her white paws like tiny socks. The first thing Samantha did was give her a warm bath she badly needed.
Even then, Mica stayed a little on edge. Her foster parents gave her space, letting her relax before she met their other dogs.
At first, she kept to herself. But soon, gentle pets and loving words began to break through her fear. Mica soaked up every bit of affection, finally feeling what it was like to be safe.
Grateful and happy, she started showering her foster parents with sweet kisses.
She had an adorable way of showing her excitement.
“She would just dance really fast in front of you. Her whole body wiggles. Definitely would let you know when she was happy, which was all the time,” said Samantha.
One of her funniest quirks was picking up shoes and rearranging them to her liking, a habit that never failed to make everyone laugh.
A New Life Full Of Love
After three weeks of healing and love, Mica was finally ready for the next chapter.
Thanks to Ruff Start Rescue, a partner of Lola’s Lucky Day, she was matched with a wonderful family in Minnesota, a dream come true for this sweet pup.
Now called Ewa, she couldn’t be happier. She adores her new family and has become the ultimate snuggle companion. Her parents love her more than words can say.
We’re overjoyed that Ewa finally got the life she deserved.
