When Peanut Butter and Jelly were rescued from the streets and brought to Sonoma County Animal Services, in California, they immediately caught the attention of the shelter staff. From the moment the two arrived, the team noticed something unusual glinting on their foreheads.
Approaching the pups, the staff were stunned and confused to see that both dogs had jewelry glued to their foreheads. Even though many had years of experience in animal care, none had ever encountered anything like this before.
The Adorable Duo Gets Help And Healing
Peanut Butter is a Beagle and Pug mix, and Jelly is a female Chihuahua mix. The veterinary team decided the jewels and glue had to be carefully removed to ensure they weren’t harmful.
Once cleaned, it was confirmed that the glue hadn’t caused lasting health problems. However, the pups had secondary burns and small scars on their foreheads.
Despite this, Peanut Butter and Jelly were otherwise healthy and eager to find loving forever families.
The two doggos eventually found a wonderful family who showered them with love and care. They thrived in their home until tragedy struck: their owner passed away, leaving Peanut Butter and Jelly without a family once again.
Back At The Shelter And In Foster Care

The senior pups were returned to Sonoma County Animal Services.
Due to their age, they were transferred to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, a non-profit in San Francisco that helps dogs over seven find permanent homes.
Their foster mom, Lisa Arden, gave them all her love and attention. She cuddled them, cared for them, and shared their personalities with others.
“They are very sweet and friendly dogs who are great around people and get along well with other dogs. They continue to blossom in foster, showing both of their silly personalities. They are both still quite active and love to run around and play. They are just the most wonderful dogs,” Arden told The Dodo.
Though both pups had big personalities, Arden said Jelly was the boss, often telling Peanut Butter what to do.
A Forever Home At Last

After three months in foster care without any adoption inquiries, Arden posted a TikTok video introducing the two pups to her followers. Their charm and playful personalities quickly went viral, stealing hearts online.
Then, Arden shared exciting news on her Instagram: Peanut Butter and Jelly had a virtual meet-and-greet with their new dad. The meeting went wonderfully, and Arden was confident the pups had finally found the best possible home.
Soon, the adoption will be finalized, and Peanut Butter and Jelly will begin a new chapter, riding into the sunset with their loving dad.
We’re thrilled that these remarkable pups, who overcame abandonment and injury, finally have the family they deserve.
