Here’s a story that proves some pets can turn an ordinary day into pure chaos.
Meet Cecil, a seven-year-old Goldendoodle from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who stunned his family and quickly became an online sensation.
His record? Eating an entire $4,000 in cash.
Yes, you read that right.
Here’s how the unforgettable event unfolded.
Cecil Has Always Been The Perfect Pup

According to Cecil’s owners, Clayton and Carrie Law, their dog has always been gentle and easygoing. Since puppyhood, he never once caused them trouble.
But recently, they learned that Cecil has rather unusual tastes.
The couple had withdrawn $4,000 from the bank to pay workers installing a new fence at their Pittsburgh home. They placed the sealed envelope with the money on the kitchen counter, planning to grab it later.
That’s when Cecil made his move.
By the time Clayton walked back in about half an hour later, the kitchen was a disaster. Shredded bits of cash were scattered across the floor.

Shocked, Clayton called out to his wife, unable to believe what had just happened.
“I ran in, thinking I had to have heard him wrong, but when I saw the mess, there was no doubt,” Carrie told The Washington Post. “I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Cecil had really done it.”
Ironically, Cecil had never been particularly food motivated, but that day, money seemed irresistible.
Worried about their dog’s health, the couple contacted their vet right away. Luckily, Cecil’s size worked in his favor. The vet reassured them that as long as he kept eating, drinking, and using the bathroom normally, he would be fine.
A Messy Case Of ‘Money Laundering’

Once they knew Cecil was okay, the Laws had to face the bigger question: how to get the money back.
When they contacted the bank, the manager explained that if they could recover more than half of each bill and both serial numbers, the money could be replaced.
That meant there was only one possible way to retrieve it. And it was far from pleasant.
For the next couple of days, Clayton and Carrie had to carefully sort through Cecil’s vomit and waste, searching for any scraps of cash they could recover.

“I never thought I’d be able to say I’ve laundered money, but there is apparently a first time for everything,” Carrie said.
Though the task was dreadful, they managed to find humor in the situation.
To their surprise, the bank manager even admitted that this type of accident happens more often than people might think. Paper money passes through countless hands and environments, picking up scents that can actually attract dogs.
After carefully cleaning and piecing the bills together, the couple managed to recover nearly $3,500.

“We’ve kept at least one of the torn-up bills so we can do a piece of artwork and frame it to commemorate the entire situation. Not that we’d ever forget,” Carrie added.
Even after the ordeal, Clayton and Carrie’s love for their dog never wavered.

“You can’t really blame an animal for what they do. Like they’re an animal. They’re not doing it to be malicious or anything. So, we’ve really been laughing about it pretty much since that day,” Carrie told Good Morning America.
Carrie later shared their experience on Instagram with videos and photos, and it wasn’t long before Cecil’s story went viral.
Their once quiet Goldendoodle suddenly became a star for having one very expensive snack.
