Deeply Scared Dog Abandoned In Dumpster Didn’t Move Until Texas Rescuers Arrived

A dog’s fear is often triggered by a lack of socialization, abandonment, neglect or cruelty. Oscar, sadly, experienced all of these.

He was abandoned and discarded in a dumpster full of trash in Houston, Texas, by his previous owner. While waiting for a miracle to happen, this terrified pup barely had the strength to stand on his paws. All he could do was sit tight and hope someone would extend a friendly hand.

Fortunately, a kind passerby noticed him just in time!

He Was So Defeated

The Fur A Pawsitive Future team received a call from a local resident about “a pair of eyes shining back at them.”

Even though the rescue is specialized in saving abandoned cats, the team knew they had to act fast. They just couldn’t let the dog spend one more night alone and scared.

“While we’re all about cats, we could not let this poor doggy spend the night in a dumpster,” the FAPF team shared on Instagram.

The rescuers arrived at the scene within minutes. The scene that followed was truly heartbreaking. The dog, a Rottweiler mix, was so traumatized and didn’t move at all.

He was frozen in fear, which made it impossible to just “pull him out” with a leash around his neck. So, the team used a crate and placed it in the dumpster right next to the dog. Within seconds, the pup hopped right in.

He was successfully transported to a local shelter, where he received full medical attention.

While still scared and traumatized by the recent events, the dog, later named Oscar, didn’t show any signs of aggression. Quite the contrary, he was just genuinely happy and grateful for being saved.

Before long, the pup was pulled out of the shelter by Texas Bark Squad who found him a foster home in no time.

Oscar, finally being shown all the love, soon transformed into a brand-new dog!

“Today, Oscar is absolutely thriving!! He loves his new dog friends and is even cat friendly,” Texas Bark Squad shared.

From Dumpster To Fishing Adventures

Underneath his fear, Oscar was a friendly, happy-go-lucky dog. His enthusiasm made everyone fall in love with him, which ultimately earned him a forever home with a beautiful family from Spokane, Washington.

The family couldn’t be happier to finally have Oscar join their family, including their two other dogs.

“Today, he’s living a whole new life… because Oscar has been officially ADOPTED!  He’s now settling in with a loving family who sees just how special he is,” TBS shared in the post.

Now, Oscar is all about new adventures, including fishing trips, playing with his furry siblings and exploring the beautiful Washington scenery with his family.

His life story is a true testament to resilience and love. From abandonment to a new home, Oscar has never been happier.

“From discarded to deeply loved — way to go, Oscar! Thank you to everyone who believed in his second chance and worked so hard to help him,” the Texas rescue added.
