Found In Terrible Condition
Juliana, founder of Dirt Road Dogs in Choctaw, Oklahoma, couldn’t ignore Grace’s case. As soon as she heard about her, Juliana brought her in as a foster and gave her the best care possible.
“She is a loyal and sweet mini Dobie who is being fostered here at camp with @dirtroad_dogs after she was found hit by a car and suffering with a broken foot,” DRD wrote on Instagram.
Grace adjusted to her new environment slowly. She blossomed into a loving dog who adored being around humans, though it took her a little longer to feel comfortable with her furry foster siblings.
A few months later, Grace had transformed into a brand-new dog. She embraced life again and radiated joy.
The black Dobie girl became the picture of the perfect companion — a dog fit for any family. Before long, her sweet nature won her the one thing she had been missing: a forever home.
A Phone Call They Hoped To Never Receive
Juliana and her family felt overjoyed watching Grace start her next chapter. But nearly a year later, Juliana answered a phone call that shattered her heart.
The family who had adopted Grace faced arrest for abuse and neglect. Authorities found Grace in animal control, along with several other mistreated dogs. Thanks to her microchip, officers traced her back to Juliana’s rescue.
“She and the other dogs had been starved, neglected and abused. Her and the few that survived were taken in and given medical treatment,” DRD wrote.
Juliana couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She thought Grace had finally gotten the love-filled home she deserved. Instead, Grace suffered more trauma.
Without hesitation, Juliana and her family rushed to pick her up again. Still, she worried whether Grace would even remember them after so long.
When they finally reunited, Juliana’s fears vanished. Grace knew exactly who they were.
“It’s been almost a year since Grace left us but when she saw us it was clear she remembered us,” DRD added.
After everything she endured, Grace’s story had come full circle. This time, Juliana and her family vowed to keep her forever.
Now, Grace lives safely in her Oklahoma home, surrounded by love. While she still needs time to adjust, she no longer faces neglect or abuse.
From here on out, her days will be filled with joy, laughter, and adventures with her furry siblings.
