As someone who has owned dogs before, I have to admit that one of the hardest things was constantly making sure they didn’t hurt themselves.
In many ways, puppies are like toddlers. The world is their playground, and exploring everything around them is their favorite activity.
But this curiosity often comes with risks. Since their behavior can be unpredictable, they sometimes wind up in trouble.
That is exactly what happened to Cloud one day while she was playing outside with her siblings. She ended up getting stung by a bee, and thankfully, her foster mom spotted it right away and rushed over to check on her.
Cloud’s Rescue Story

When Jean first met Cloud, it was through Hope Animal Rescue in North Carolina. Cloud and her siblings were all saved by the rescue group.
The entire litter needed foster homes, but finding space for all of them was a challenge. There were nine puppies in total, which was a lot to handle.
At first, Jean wasn’t sure she could foster Cloud since she had a trip planned out of town. Without a temporary foster, things didn’t look promising.
But just like plans often do, hers changed at the very last moment.

She told GeoBeats Animals: “So I said I probably can’t because I don’t think we’re gonna be able to find a temporary foster to care for nine puppies. But then I decided I really would rather get these nine puppies than leave town and visit my sister-in-law.”
Jean and her husband welcomed all nine puppies, and quickly realized they needed to make changes to give them a proper setup.
Her husband built an outbuilding for the puppies, even running electricity so the space could be kept cool with air conditioning.
When Cloud Was Stung

The yard around their new space served as the perfect play area for the puppies. But just as they were starting to feel at home, something unexpected happened.
Cloud got stung by a bee while running around outside. Jean noticed right away and rushed her to a vet clinic in North Carolina.
The vets examined her and decided she needed to stay there for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of the problems.

Jean said: “I came back and noticed that two of the other puppies looked like they had been bitten, that my husband just didn’t notice.”
They were also taken to an ER, but their cases turned out to be mild. The vets said they only needed Benadryl injections and would be fine.
Meanwhile, Cloud’s swelling still hadn’t gone down, and Jean worried when she saw there wasn’t much improvement.

Even so, the vets assured her it was safe for Cloud to return home. She would just need ongoing treatment with Benadryl.
By the very next morning, Jean noticed the swelling had eased and Cloud was acting like her playful self again.
While it isn’t clear if Cloud and her siblings have forever homes yet, it’s obvious that the rescue is doing everything possible to give them a real shot at a happy future.
