California Great Dane Who Was Abandoned Shows Endless Love To His Forever Mom

Dogs who are abandoned often carry deep scars, but they never forget the humans who bring love into their lives.

Cash, a deaf Great Dane, endured extreme heartbreak after being left alone in an abandoned house without food or water. A retired woman who rushed to rescue him was devastated by his condition.

The dog was severely malnourished and exhausted, and his fear of humans made him hide from the world. His rescuer posted an online ad seeking a foster home for Cash, hoping someone could help heal his wounded heart.

Foster Family Takes On The Challenge

When Heather saw the ad, she knew she had to step in and help. She agreed to foster Cash for a two-week period.

When Cash arrived at Heather’s home in California, she was stunned by both his size and his extreme fear.

“I was speechless with the size of him and just really how scared he was,” Heather told GeoBeats Animals.

The Great Dane was terrified of strangers. When someone came to the door, he ran to the far corner of the room. Heather’s family gave him toys, but Cash did not understand how to play with them.

Since the family had no prior experience fostering a deaf dog, they conducted careful research to learn how to interact with him safely.

Cash was also nervous around the family’s other pets. On one occasion, he had an altercation with Heather’s older dog over food, so the family decided to feed and walk him separately to keep him calm.

With patient care, love, and attention, Cash gradually gained weight.

He began realizing that this foster family would not abandon him like his previous owners. His heart slowly started to heal as he felt safe in their home.

Learning To Trust And Love

Three months later, Cash had settled in and began interacting comfortably with the other dogs.

The Great Dane’s charm won over his foster parents, who could not imagine life without him. They decided to make him a permanent member of the family.

Cash adored his new family and felt grateful for the loving home he had finally received. To express his appreciation, he began bringing toys to his mom, showing the depth of his affection.

Although Cash had largely overcome his past trauma, he remained wary around men wearing baseball caps, suggesting he had experienced something negative involving a man with a hat in the past.

Whenever they encountered someone wearing a cap, his family would politely explain the situation and ask the person to remove it.

Cash enjoys spending time with his dad, a runner, accompanying him on runs of three to six miles a day. This has become one of his favorite parts of life.

Now living his best life in California, Cash enjoys lounging on the porch, soaking up love from his parents, and sharing moments of joy on his Instagram account

His recovery story is a testament to resilience and the healing power of human care.
