Nova’s story is one of the hardest to hear among animal abandonment cases.
This sweet dog ended up discarded in a dumpster through no fault of his own. Scared, confused, and all alone, he waited for someone to offer kindness.
Fortunately, he received far more than just a rescue; he found a family that continuously reminds his abandoner that Nova is living a joyful life.
Life Has Been Hard On Nova
When a passerby discovered Nova in a dumpster, they were shocked.
Once the tarp covering him was lifted, it revealed a huge, infected wound that had left his leg swollen. Nova was immediately taken to a clinic and then placed under the care of PAWS Chicago.
Tragically, Nova’s leg could not be saved, and he became a three-legged dog.
“Nova was found in a dumpster with a large, severely infected wound. The infection has done so much damage that he would need an amputation before his body went into sepsis,” PAWS Chicago stated in an Instagram post.
On top of this, Nova had numerous scars and cuts across his body, evidence of past abuse and neglect. Despite everything, he showed an incredible spirit, choosing happiness and enthusiasm for life.
“His first day post-op, Nova was already hamming it up. This little trooper was launching himself into laps, jumping up for pets, throwing his toys around, and scarfing down food,” the rescue added.
Thanks to his loving personality, Nova quickly found a forever family and a buddy named Omar. The two moved into a new home, beginning a life full of care and affection.
A Message For Those Who Abandoned Him
Since his adoption, Nova’s life has been full of love. He and Omar are inseparable, and his owners make sure he knows he will never face danger or neglect again.
They even share videos showing Nova enjoying his new life, sending a clear message to those who abandoned him.
In one update, his owners highlighted that this “dumpster dog” has a new dog bed and matching quilt.
“Dad bought me a matching quilt for my own bed,” the message says.
Nova is living his best life.
Despite his challenges as a special-needs dog struggling with walking, climbing, and other daily activities, he never gives up. His family matches his determination, providing care and encouragement every step of the way.
Recently, Nova experienced the beach for the first time since his rescue.
In a TikTok update, his owners addressed his previous abandoner directly:
“To whoever put me in a dumpster to be thrown away, guess what? I’m discovering the world outside my dumpster is beautiful, and today dad took me to the beach.”
Nova’s gratitude toward his new family is boundless. He now has everything he could ever dream of, and his life is full of love, joy, and memorable days.
