When a friendly Labrador Retriever appeared in a neighborhood in Carnesville, Georgia, he quickly captured the hearts of the locals.
The residents began calling him Waylon and made sure he had food, but sadly, no one gave him the forever home he longed for.
Waylon continued to wander the streets, searching for the love and security he desperately needed. Then, one day, his hope soared—he spotted a doggy daycare bus passing by.
Overcome with excitement, Waylon began running after it, as though he believed every step brought him closer to the life he dreamed of.
Pup Receives The Best Possible News
Tyson Cash, co-owner of Keller Creek doggy daycare in Carnesville, took the wheel of the bus that morning.
He noticed the determined pup sprinting behind the bus but, bound by daycare rules, couldn’t let him on. Still, leaving Waylon behind tugged at his heart.
Wanting to help, Tyson and his wife, Ashten, shared a video of Waylon on Facebook in the hope that someone might recognize him and reunite him with his family.
One of the people who came across the video was a woman named Sadie. The sight of Waylon running after the bus left her heartbroken.
“The first video I saw was him chasing the daycare bus, and it absolutely broke my heart. He was running with all his might to try to catch up to get it to stop. I believe that when he was chasing that bus, he was chasing his dream,” Sadie told Cuddle Buddies.
She reached out to Keller Creek for more details, and when she learned that Waylon had been abandoned and had no known owner, she made the life-changing decision to adopt him.
The Happiest Chapter In Waylon’s Life
From the moment Waylon stepped into Sadie’s home, he formed an immediate bond with his new family.
Craving affection, the sweet pup spent hours cuddling close to his humans, soaking up every bit of love he had missed.
“He’d just crawl right into your lap and just sit there and wouldn’t even move for hours,” Sadie shared.
Waylon also met his Labrador sister, Nellie, and the two quickly became best friends.
Sadie always knew she wanted Waylon to experience the joy of joining Keller Creek, just like Nellie. Once he received all his vaccinations, he was finally able to climb aboard the bus he had once chased with so much hope.
For Waylon, it was a dream come true. Not only did he get to ride the daycare bus, but he also made many new friends, enjoyed pool playtime, and even floated happily on a unicorn raft.
Now, Waylon lives each day surrounded by love and happiness.
