Tiny Pup Saved From Euthanasia In New York Grows Into A Dog Who Brings Comfort

Trying to explain the connection between people and dogs can be tricky for those who have never had one.

The love that never fades, the worries when they are unwell, and the emptiness you feel when they are gone—it is all absolutely real.

One remarkable story from New York is about a pup named Daliso. He was saved from euthanasia in his very first hours thanks to people with enormous hearts, and from that moment on, he made bringing comfort to others his mission.

Here is his extraordinary journey.

Daliso’s Will To Live

Craig and Virginie Fields of New York Bully Crew received a call one day from a veterinarian about a puppy named Daliso. He was only a day old and scheduled for euthanasia. Born with a cleft palate that made it impossible for him to nurse, his first owner decided to put him down.

Craig and Virginie jumped into their car and drove hundreds of miles to rescue him.

Daliso was placed on tube feedings and cared for around the clock in an incubator. His new caretakers gave him everything he needed to survive, and within weeks, he began to show progress.

“Daliso fought day and night to survive, as he had to be tube-fed every two hours. He was so tiny that he looked like a gerbil.

After a few weeks, Daliso overcame all the odds, and became a bubbly and healthy little boy. His name, Daliso, came to us before we even realized its meaning: blessing,” the NYBC wrote.

Growing Into A Stunning Pup

With his loving New York family by his side, Daliso flourished.

No longer dependent on tubes or an incubator, he gained weight, grew steadier on his legs, and revealed the most remarkable ears. He became a one-of-a-kind bully pup, wearing his distinctive look with charm.

Craig and Virginie were overjoyed to watch him thrive. He even found a best friend in the family’s other dog, Earl, who became his closest companion.

A Purpose Greater Than Himself

Daliso continued living with Craig and Virginie until a woman named Margaritte reached out with an emotional letter that changed everything.

Her mother was fighting ovarian cancer, and during that time, she followed Daliso’s story online through New York Bully Crew.

“When his story was posted and every night, no matter her pain; she said “let’s see what little Daliso is up to” She would smile and say how special he was,” wrote Margaritte.

Daliso brought her mom peace in her most painful days. Eventually, Margaritte asked Craig if he and Daliso might visit her mother.

Craig and Virginie gladly agreed, and for weeks they visited until, sadly, her mom passed away.

That day, Craig and Virginie made a selfless choice. They decided to adopt Daliso out to Margaritte. As much as they loved him, they knew it was the right decision.

When they shared the news, Margaritte was overcome with joy. She cried with happiness at the thought that the same dog who comforted her mom would now stay by her side.

“With Daliso, I have a piece of my Mom and comfort that has helped with my grief and anxiety,” said Margeritte.

Today, Daliso and Margaritte share adventures and everyday joys together, appreciating the gift of each other’s presence. As for Craig and Virginie, their hearts are full knowing that they made the best choice.
