Loyal Pup Abandoned In The Rain Keeps Hoping His Family Will Return In South Carolina

Why are dogs so loyal to people? It is one of those timeless questions that always comes up with canines.

Some might say it is because we domesticated them and a bond formed between our species. Still, that is not the whole story.

Dogs live in packs, and that social wiring and pack mindset is what keeps them devoted to other dogs or to humans.

Which is why it stings to see that loyalty ignored. It is heartbreaking when a cheerful, faithful dog is left behind by the very people he cares about most.

A Depressing Sight

On a rainy day in South Carolina, a rescuer named Angela Simmons was called to help an abandoned dog left behind in a trailer park.

Neighbors had seen the poor pup stretched out on an outdoor couch, waiting for someone to return. But no one ever did, so they reached out to Simmons for help.

When she arrived, she noticed that the dog seemed friendly and welcoming. His paws and nose looked sore, most likely from being outside in the wet conditions for so long.

She brought him to a rescue group called Auction For A Kaws, where they took the dog, now named Murphy, and helped him settle in.

One shelter worker shared with The Dodo: Once he entered foster care, he proved to be the biggest love bug.

Murphy’s Fresh Start

Murphy’s personality began to shine as soon as he was settled into care. Before long, he was enjoying walks, riding in cars, and rolling around happily in his bed.

He also loved lying outside in the sun, soaking up the fresh air that felt much better than those rainy days he once endured.

The staff adored him and couldn’t help but praise his sweet, outgoing personality.

One team member said: He loves other dogs and is very intelligent. He is very eager to learn and has amazing manners.

After some recovery time and lots of play, the shelter team decided Murphy was ready to find a family of his own.

To help with his adoption, they shared a video on their Instagram account, telling his story and showing his playful side.

In the video, the organization said: We are so thrilled to offer Murphy for adoption! Murphy is a 45 pound pit mix located in Greenville South Carolina. He is approximately 3 1/2 years old, housetrained, very loving, walks great on a leash and loves all people.

By the time this story was written, Murphy was likely already living with a family who adores him. For anyone still curious about him, the rescue group can provide more details.
