One Great Pyrenees in Minnesota knows this reality all too well. Despite his foster mom’s determination to find him a family, people continued to avoid him.
The Weight Of His Unfortunate Condition
The sad story of four-year-old Olaf, a Great Pyrenees, recently touched many hearts. His foster mom in Minnesota has spent months trying to place him in a permanent home, but her attempts have so far ended in disappointment.
Her most recent effort to show Olaf to potential adopters turned out to be especially crushing. It highlighted just how heavy a burden this gentle dog has had to carry.
In a video posted on her TikTok account, @wilfredthedestroyer, she shared Olaf’s story with her followers. After fostering him for three months without receiving a single application, she decided to bring him to an adoption event.
She hoped that perhaps that day would finally be Olaf’s lucky break. But as soon as they arrived, her hopes began to crumble.
Although many people stopped to admire the big, fluffy dog, everything changed once they learned about his condition. Almost immediately, they would turn away, leaving her heart shattered.
The video caption reveals that sad reality: “Olaf has a neurological condition that causes back leg weakness. He can walk, run & play – he’s just wobbly & struggles with stairs. This has made finding his forever family incredibly difficult. No one wants to large special needs dog.”
It is heartbreaking enough that Olaf has to live with this condition, but what hurts even more is that people reject him simply for being unsteady and having trouble with stairs.
Countless People Moved To Tears
This video quickly spread online, gaining a flood of attention and touching countless hearts. Many viewers were brought to tears, and the comments poured in as proof of how deeply Olaf’s story resonated.

Hopefully, it won’t stop at words. Perhaps someone will step forward with the compassion to give Olaf the loving home he deserves.
Just like every other dog, Olaf deserves to be cherished, maybe even more so because of everything he has endured.
