A Rush To Rescue
Michael Favor, founder of the New York-based rescue Pitbulls and Addicts, was stunned when he got word about a starving, injured dog left tethered to a fence.
Without wasting a moment, Favor rushed to the location, his mind flooded with concern for the dog’s condition.
When he finally arrived, he found a devastated pup curled beneath a bush — a heartbreaking sight that stopped him in his tracks.
The dog gazed up at Favor with pleading eyes full of pain, silently begging to be saved.
Starving and severely infected, with open sores and ulcerated skin, the pup was in desperate need of urgent care.
Favor didn’t hesitate — he gently freed the dog, whom he later named Teddy, and cradled him with compassion.
Teddy’s expression as he sniffed Favor’s hands was one of disbelief — as if he couldn’t fathom someone had finally come for him.
A Glimmer Of Hope
Teddy was swiftly transported to Bay Street Animal Hospital in Staten Island, where a dedicated veterinary team took over his care.
He was immediately hospitalized and began a regimen of antibiotics and topical treatments to begin healing the many wounds covering his frail body.
Healing With Love
With each passing day, Teddy was showered with gentle words and tender care by the hospital staff.
Though he had every reason to mistrust humans, Teddy began to understand that these new people were different — they wanted to help him.
Slowly but surely, his sad eyes gave way to glimmers of joy. His little tail wagged for the first time, and soon, he was greeting his caretakers each morning with newfound excitement.
Enchanted by his resilience and charm, the medical team poured love into every moment they spent with him — and Teddy repaid them with sweet, grateful kisses.
His recovery was remarkable.
From Suffering To Smiles
In just two weeks, the painful ulcers that once covered Teddy’s body had completely healed. He was gaining strength, and more importantly — he was rediscovering trust and hope.
Now, Teddy is one step closer to a brand new chapter. Once his full recovery is complete, he’ll transition to Pitbulls and Addicts, where his search for a loving forever home will begin.
