Texas Dog Bursts With Joy When He Realizes He’s Finally Leaving The Shelter

Even though many shelters work hard to give animals the most comfortable stay possible, sometimes it still isn’t enough.

Every dog needs a person of their own in order to feel truly happy.

When an animal remains in a shelter for too long, it can begin to lose hope, growing sad or even depressed.

Thankfully, foster homes exist to prevent that from happening.

First Days At The Shelter

Before a pup named Ronnie arrived at the Dallas Animal Services (DAS), one of the largest municipal shelters in the country, he was a stray with nowhere to belong.

But once he walked through the doors of the Dallas shelter, this sweet dog was as cheerful as could be. He proudly strolled around, greeting everyone and showing just how good-natured he was.

“He was a happy, friendly, wiggly boy who was so excited to see his human friends,” the public information coordinator at Dallas Animal Services, Marlo Clingman, told The Dodo.

Since DAS works hard to place every animal in a loving foster or forever home quickly, Ronnie’s case was no different.

After waiting patiently and being his cheerful self, a family reached out to the Dallas shelter offering to foster him.

Settling Into His Foster Home

When Ronnie’s foster mom arrived to pick him up, the thrilled pup could hardly contain himself.

“He was thrilled to meet his foster mom, Ashley. He was all smiles and wags from the second he hopped in their car,” he added.

Ashley managed to snap a photo right after Ronnie jumped into the car, and it was then she noticed just how much this moment meant to him.

“His smile was so big he couldn’t keep his eyes open,” he said.

Ronnie was amazed that he was finally going to be a house dog, welcomed by a family ready to love him.

The second he stepped paw into his foster home, he knew this was going to be a place filled with love, fun, and cuddles.

He instantly showed his best manners and made sure to express his gratitude by covering his foster family with kisses at every opportunity.

Watching how much love he carried in his heart, Ronnie’s foster family hopes he’ll soon be adopted by someone who will not only treat him well but return his love tenfold.

“Ronnie loves to play and would be happy to have a big doggie buddy to romp around with or at least a friend to have playdates with. He likes men and women equally — he loves his foster mom and dad so much for breaking him out of the shelter. He has met a toddler and did great — he gave him a big sloppy, doggie kiss!” said Marlo.

Hoping For A Forever Family

I believe this joyful pup will find a loving forever home very soon and will spend the rest of his life with a person who appreciates him and treats him the way he deserves.

Good luck, Ronnie!
