That’s exactly what unfolded for a young woman living in Virginia Beach, Virginia, along with several of her relatives.
What started as a typical family gathering quickly turned into an unforgettable moment, as they headed home with the most heartwarming surprise.
Their Little Teddy Bear
Amanda Roache set aside the day to spend with her mother and grandparents. They planned a simple drive and some time together, just enjoying each other’s company.
What none of them imagined was that they would come across a tiny puppy on the side of the road. Amanda and her family stopped right away without a second thought.
The little pup was in rough shape. He couldn’t stand or sit properly, and his body was crawling with fleas. Amanda knew instantly they couldn’t leave him behind, so she brought him back with them.
Once home, Amanda gave him food, and the way he ate made it clear he hadn’t had a proper meal in quite some time. She didn’t let him eat too much at once since she had no idea how long he had gone without food.
She also gave him a bath to rid him of the fleas, which made him feel so much more comfortable.
After he seemed a little stronger, Amanda had to think about what would come next. Adopting a dog wasn’t in her plans that day, but making sure he was safe certainly was.
So, she decided to bring him to her parents’ home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, as a surprise for her dad. That moment changed everything.
Her father’s reaction was priceless. He was absolutely overjoyed when he saw the puppy. From that instant, there was no question what Amanda’s decision would be. The little pup was staying.
He quickly settled in with the rest of the family, including their Great Pyrenees and another stray they had welcomed before. Everyone adored him, and he soon earned the nickname “Teddy bear.” That’s how he officially got his name, Teddy.
From then on, Teddy became part of the family, and life for all of them was never the same again.
