California Rescuer Stunned To Find Shivering Surprise Hidden Deep In The Bushes

Working in dog rescue—especially on the streets—is no easy feat. Rescuers often spend countless hours trying to reach frightened pups who are too scared to trust anyone.

Many strays are so traumatized by past experiences that they avoid all human contact, making it incredibly difficult to get close to them.

When all else fails, rescuers often turn to humane traps. These kennels, baited with food, offer one of the few reliable ways to safely help a fearful dog.

That was exactly the case for Suzette Hall, a devoted rescuer determined to change one sweet dog’s fate.

A Frightened Pup Nestled In The Bushes

Suzette received word about a stray dog who had been living in some bushes near a California bank’s drive-thru. Time was of the essence.

A compassionate woman named Crystal had already stepped in, offering the pup a small crate to shelter in—especially important since it had been raining frequently.

This thoughtful gesture meant the dog would likely remain close by. When Suzette arrived to help, she quickly realized the pup was extremely timid and nervous.

Rescuing her wouldn’t be simple. For several days, Suzette tried everything she could, but the dog remained too skittish to approach—and even the traps didn’t work.

The problem? Kind-hearted bank employees had been feeding the pup regularly, so she never felt the need to enter the trap in search of food.

While their compassion was heartwarming, it made things trickier for Suzette, who was trying to lure the pup into safety.

Still, she refused to give up. Even when her car broke down, she borrowed her mother’s older vehicle—despite it lacking her usual equipment.

A New Plan Takes Shape

Suzette called her friend Lorena Zeballos for help, and together they brainstormed a new strategy.

Since the bank was closed on Sundays, they figured the pup wouldn’t get her usual meals that day. That gave them the perfect window to try again with the trap.

The rescue wasn’t without its challenges. The dog was easily spooked. She would peek out of the bushes, only to retreat at the slightest unfamiliar sound or movement.

They remained patient. They knew Sunday would be the day.

Finally, she spotted the trap.

She cautiously circled it a few times, then slowly stepped inside. The trap worked. She was safe.

After so many exhausting days, Suzette and Lorena could finally exhale. The dog even reached her paw out to them—almost as if she knew she was in good hands now.

A New Beginning

Now that she’s safe, this once-scared pup is in gentle, caring hands. Suzette will do everything possible to help her heal and prepare for a future with a loving family.

This story is a beautiful reminder of the power of perseverance. Despite obstacles, Suzette never gave up—and her dedication gave one more stray dog a second chance.

We’re so glad this sweet pup found her light at the end of the tunnel.
