While Dyesa and her friend were headed to a doctor’s appointment, they noticed a tiny puppy sitting in a shopping cart outside a grocery store in Phoenix, Arizona.
They pulled over and hurried to see how they could help him.
The little dog, wearing a worried look, seemed relieved the moment the kind women approached.
Dyesa and her friend soothed the pup and wondered if he had an owner nearby.
They spoke with store staff and learned the dog had likely been outside since 5 a.m. Nobody knew anything about his family.
Bringing The Puppy To A Shelter
The compassionate women believed the sweet pup had been abandoned. They felt awful for him and were determined to step in.
They fed the little guy, later named Herbert, and tucked a jacket around him to keep him warm.
After Herbert polished off his meal, his new friends contacted Maricopa County Animal Care & Control which took the dog under their care.
On November 21st, 2024, Dyesa posted a video of the pup on her TikTok account and shared his story with her followers, hoping someone would step up for him.
Viewers were moved by Herbert’s situation and upset that store employees had not helped. They were also frustrated with the owner they assumed had dumped him.
No one could have predicted what was really going on.
Five days later, Dyesa uploaded an update about Herbert, letting everyone know he had not been abandoned as many first believed.
“The dog ran out of the house, and the owner couldn’t locate him,” Dyesa revealed in a comment.
She added that it was still unclear how the missing pup ended up inside the shopping cart in the parking lot.
The puppy’s owner searched everywhere for him. He called every shelter, hoping for any news about his beloved dog.
However, because Herbert was on a three-day stray hold, he had not been entered into the shelter system yet, so his owner did not find him.
Fortunately, a friend of his stumbled upon Dyesa’s TikTok video and sent it to him right away.
A Joyful Reunion
Over the moon that his dog was safe, Herbert’s owner rushed to the Phoenix shelter to bring him home.
That same day, Dyesa happened to be at the shelter visiting Herbert, and she witnessed their emotional reunion.
As soon as the pup spotted his dad, he began bouncing with excitement. He looked as if he was smiling from ear to ear as he gazed at his owner.
The puppy, whose real name is Roy, went back home.
His dad was not the only one who missed him terribly. Roy’s doggy brother missed him, too. When the best friends saw each other again, they were ecstatic.
Roy’s owner felt incredibly grateful to Dyesa for helping his pup and for sharing the video on her TikTok.
