Even though the work of a rescuer is incredibly fulfilling, there are plenty of moments that leave them completely crushed.

When a woman named Faith Easdale spotted a tiny pup sitting beside a busy road, she noticed the dog was wearing a little pink dress.

That instantly made her think the pup belonged to someone and was just waiting for them to come back. Sadly, a couple of days later, Easdale drove past the same road and saw the pup in the very same spot.

Waiting Where She Was Left

Easdale knew this sweet girl refused to move because she believed her hoomans had simply forgotten her and would return at any moment.

The pup lowered her head, sorrow washing over her face.

The rescuer, who was working with Dream Fetchers, a rescue based in California, understood she needed to step in and help this dressed-up little pup.

“I thought, ‘Oh no, poor little baby, sitting and waiting. So I raced out there and I didn’t see her. I always panic — praying they found [a] safe haven somewhere, but I continued to search. My friend met me and we started asking people in the area,” Easdale wrote in a Facebook post.

After talking to people nearby, one man told Easdale he had seen the pup hanging around that spot for days and that she sometimes hid in the bushes when something spooked her.

After checking every bush in the area, Easdale finally found the adorable pup.

“I walked quietly and there she was, the saddest sight. We very quietly set baby gates around and I went in slowly. She was so scared,” Easdale wrote.

After spending a bit of time with the doggo, Easdale saw just how gentle she was, so she managed to earn her trust in record time.

“Once I got her settled, she actually crawled in my lap and gave me the sweetest kisses. [I] took off that filthy dress, gave her a nice dinner and soft blanket,” Easdale wrote.

Start Of Something New

The second they got home, Easdale gave her a much-needed bubble bath and did a quick checkup to see if she had any obvious health issues.

Aside from her severely matted coat, this was one healthy, happy girl. Easdale also looked for a collar or microchip, but since she could not find one, she was not sure whether someone had actually dumped such a beautiful pup.

 “We rarely know the story. Usually, if there is an owner, they would have shown up by now. The area wasn’t good where she was sitting and waiting,” Easdale told The Dodo.

The very next morning, the devoted rescuer treated this sweet pup to a little doggo spa day. When she came to pick her up, she was absolutely stunned. The pup was unrecognizable.

Naming the pup Sugar, she was finally able to step into her new life.

“I feel like this is the turning point so many times — like a little Cinderella story. Giving them a second chance is what keeps us doing this. Keeps pushing, hoping for better days,” Easdale wrote in a Facebook post.

Sugar is searching for a loving foster home that will let her finally relax and decompress. After that, Easdale is sure this adorable girl will find a forever home without a single issue.
