Everything our pups need to feel truly content is our boundless love. Seeing their tails swish with excitement and their soft eyes filled with affection lights up our hearts.
Sadly, not every dog owner shares that feeling toward their pets.
Realizing that some people can hurt a dog’s feelings and mistreat them is absolutely crushing.
How could anyone betray these gentle, defenseless animals who pour so much love into us?
Ladybird was one of those vulnerable puppies who discovered just how unfeeling people can be. The adorable little girl was cruelly left behind and tied to a tree.
Although she was cold and scared, Ladybird stood quietly by the trunk with her sorrowful puppy eyes fixed on the nearby road. Her brave little heart held on to hope that someone would notice her and offer kindness and love.
Noticing A Helpless Pup
While driving along a Kentucky road, a motorist saw a small brown and white puppy sitting beside a tree. They slowed down and realized the little one had been tied to it. Heartbroken, they quickly contacted Lewis County Animal Shelter.
After receiving the call, the rescuers headed straight to the spot. They picked up the fur baby and brought her back to the shelter.
“She was just so stoic sitting there by the tree, waiting for someone to notice her. So thankful that the shelter found her and took her in. She was found not far from the shelter, actually,” Kim Desroches of Friends of Lewis County Animals told The Dodo.
When the sweet pup, later named Ladybird, arrived at the shelter, she felt frightened and unsure of everything.
The team knew that a big public shelter was not the right environment for Ladybird. She was tiny and delicate, and she needed tenderness and attention.
When Kim Desroches, who works with Friends of Lewis County Animals, saw Ladybird’s picture on the shelter’s Facebook, she felt devastated.
The sweet puppy was around six to seven weeks old.
The rescue staff, along with Desroches, could not believe that someone had tied a little puppy like Ladybird and walked away without a second glance.
Desroches made up her mind to help the adorable pup find a foster home. She knew the puppy could be exposed to many illnesses if she stayed at the shelter.
Ladybird Finds A Way Out
Before long, Desroches secured a foster, and Ladybird was pulled from the shelter.
The delightful pup moved in with her foster mom. She snuggled with Ladybird, covering her with affection and care.
Love swept away Ladybird’s fears, and the little one grew relaxed and playful.
After spending some time in foster care, Ladybird’s rescuers arranged her placement with Licking County Humane Society; a rescue located in Ohio.
On January 27th, 2024, the rescue announced on their Facebook that the sweet pup is pending adoption.
We are keeping our fingers crossed, and we hope that Ladybird found her happily ever after. She truly deserves to be cherished and loved without limits. She will never feel helpless and abandoned again.
