Texas Puppy Who Could Barely Lift His Head Now Flourishes Thanks To One Simple Change

Furby, a one-month-old Goldendoodle puppy, didn’t get the easy start in life he deserved.

Instead of spending his first month running around and enjoying himself, Furby faced multiple health problems that left him weak and downhearted.

Despite everything, he refused to give up. Even on the toughest days, when it seemed like he might not survive, he kept fighting, determined to reach the happy life he deserved.

That is why the dedicated staff at Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) worked tirelessly to make sure he had everything he needed to get there.

The Most Adorable Fighter

Staff at the Austin shelter learned that this little guy was the runt of his litter. While his siblings showed no signs of illness, Furby’s health was a different story.

One of his conditions affected his nerves, leaving him unable to walk or even sit up on his own. Still, he gathered every bit of strength he had, proving to the staff that he wasn’t giving up.

“While his exact history is unknown, the demand for designer breeds like goldendoodles too often leads to puppies bred for profit rather than health, increasing the likelihood of medical complications and shelter surrenders,” Luis Sanchez, director of public relations and communications at APA! told The Dodo.

Reaching The Next Milestone

After many medical exams and evaluations, Furby was finally well enough to go to a foster home. What happened next amazed everyone.

Furby began to blossom.

Surrounded by loving foster humans and plenty of furry siblings, he transformed almost overnight.

Before long, he was running, playing, and truly living the life he was meant to have.

A puppy who once could hardly lift his tiny head was now enjoying every moment. And the people who had cared for him couldn’t have been happier.

“He is playing with his foster siblings and learning what love is,” Sanchez said.

Furby came close to not making it, but thankfully, he ended up in the hands of the best people possible. Huge thanks go to the Austin shelter team and his foster family for seeing his potential and giving him another shot at life.

While his journey isn’t over, there’s no doubt that, when the time is right, he will find his perfect forever home.

Good luck, Furby.

A Final Thought

Irresponsible breeding can cause serious harm to our canine companions.

When breeders put profit before the health and well-being of dogs, it can lead to puppies with genetic health issues, behavioral troubles, or poor social skills.

Designer breeds like Goldendoodles face particular risks because of their popularity. This kind of breeding also adds to the problem of overpopulation, since dogs with health or behavioral issues are more likely to be given up to shelters.

Before bringing a dog into your life, remember to support ethical breeders or choose adoption to make a kind and responsible decision.
