We all wish there were no people who could neglect, abuse, or abandon animals. Sadly, that would be an ideal world, and reality is far from it.
Every day, we see dogs dumped and left to survive on the streets in heartbreaking conditions. Sometimes, even dogs with a home and a loving owner end up suffering because of a cruel decision from a heartless person.
That is exactly what can be seen in a video of a woman from Tennessee comforting her distressed dog during a car ride. The reason behind his fear is truly heartbreaking.
“Spirit That Never Deserved To Be Broken”
On September 17, 2024, TikTok user, @hairbymariahjewell, shared a video of herself driving with her upset dog, Max, leaning on her shoulder as she tried to soothe him.
The footage is heartbreaking, and in the video, she explains what caused her dog to react so strongly to being in the car. Her words shed light on the lasting impact of abandonment and the deep emotions dogs can experience.
“To the person that decided to leave him on the side of the road, scared and alone, he may have just been a dog to you, but this sweet boy deserves to enjoy car rides, but instead he is traumatized and scared,” this woman from Tennessee wrote in the video.
She continued with strong words: “I am getting to mend a sweet spirit that never deserved to be broken, please do not leave them stranded and alone, they depended on you, take them to a [no euthanasia] shelter, let a family choose them.”
She ended the video with the words: “Do not let them go through this pain.”

The last comment rings true, but sadly, not everyone understands that. Still, videos like this can raise awareness and, hopefully, inspire some people to treat dogs with the compassion they deserve.
It might sound harsh, but those who continue to abandon animals should have to face the laws that punish such acts.
