One of the few reliable things when adopting a puppy is being able to imagine how they will look as they grow.
In reality, that’s usually the main thing that changes. Their playful, outgoing personality tends to remain consistent.
However, for this California woman, things didn’t unfold as she anticipated.
She brought home a sweet puppy, but as she grew, the owner began noticing something unusual.
A Transformation That Surprised Her
When the woman first adopted her dog from a California shelter, she was a beautiful puppy with very dark fur. At first glance, she could even be mistaken for a larger breed.
The owner hadn’t specified the dog’s breed, so the best guess was a Whippet and Terrier mix.
It wasn’t certain, but that didn’t matter. As the puppy grew, her owner began observing unexpected changes.
The changes were far from minor. Her fur changed color completely, and by the time she was fully grown, she looked like an entirely different dog.
Her owner was surprised and a little amused. She had expected her pup to grow up ‘cute,’ but instead decided to document the before and after transformation with photos.
Leaving The Internet Puzzled
After taking the photos, the woman posted them on TikTok. As anticipated, viewers responded with intriguing comments.
One person asked: “Are you sure no one switched out your dog?”
I’d be asking the same if I didn’t see this dog every day. Such a drastic change doesn’t happen often.
Another person said: “Get her haircut 100% different look. I used to have a Terrier mix to. He looked like a whole different dog when his hair was cut.”
That may be one way to alter her appearance, though it seems the owner wasn’t calling her dog ‘ugly’, she was just joking about the change.
Lastly, somebody commented: “Lmfao… not me buying a toy poodle/ terrier mix bc she looked sad but 100% I have a feeling this will be her bc her hair is already wild.”
Time will tell for that person, but surely they’ll come to adore their furry companion.
No matter what, this unusual pup appears to be living her best life, and it’s clear her owner loves her. Even though she looks very different from expectations, she remains a sweet dog, which is what truly matters.
