Shelter dogs sometimes use their charm, too, hoping it will help them find a home.
That’s exactly what happened when a Michigan shelter pup decided to put his best paw forward to win over a visitor.
Eamon’s Friendship Blankie
While walking through Detroit Animal Care & Control, Chelsea Grey noticed a dog trying hard to get her attention.
It was Eamon, a gentle pup holding his favorite blanket in his mouth, offering it to anyone willing to be his friend.
It was his quiet way of showing that he wanted companionship, since he was all alone.
Grey asked about him and learned he had been found as a stray on Michigan’s streets.
The rescuers affectionately called him the “derpiest little guy” because his eyes were slightly crossed. Grey decided to spend more time with him and saw just how attached he was to his toys.
They were his main source of fun. Even during playtime, he wouldn’t let them go.
Grey told The Dodo: “The entire time I had him out, he was holding a toy. I tried to see if I could get him to drop the toy by giving him a different toy, but then he just carried two toys.”
His Personality Shines
As days went by, Eamon began to relax, showing his sweet and playful personality.
Grey enjoyed spending time with him and decided to record him, hoping someone would see it and give him a chance.
She posted the video on TikTok and it quickly went viral. Many were moved by his story, but one person was especially interested: a potential adopter.
They visited the Michigan shelter to meet Eamon in person and found him even more adorable than they’d expected.
He was placed on a foster-to-adopt plan, meaning the family would first foster him before deciding on adoption.
Of course, Eamon brought all his toys, and he still kept his blankie close. Now, he has someone to share them with, making his new chapter even brighter.
