In many dog rescue stories, much of the attention is placed on the people who abandon animals and the reminder that such acts of cruelty should never happen.
While that’s a valid point, it’s equally important to shine a light on the individuals who dedicate their time and energy to making the world kinder for animals.
There are plenty of people who act instantly when they see an animal in distress, and I have to say, those people are truly remarkable.
This story is a perfect example — a concerned security guard noticed a dog tied to a fence on a California street and immediately reached out to rescuers for help.
A Rescue That Came Together Quickly
After receiving the urgent call, Suzette Hall, a long-time dog rescuer from Southern California, wasted no time. She gathered her rescue gear and set off to help the frightened pup.
To her surprise, the location was just down the road from the local shelter. That led Hall to believe the person who abandoned the dog probably knew the shelter was there but simply didn’t want to spend the small fee to surrender her properly.
It’s quite possible this dog’s owner left her there knowing Hall or another rescuer would eventually find her.
Still, abandoning a dog like that is never okay. Out on the street, she could have been attacked by another animal, and being tied to a fence meant she had no way to protect herself. I couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened if Hall hadn’t arrived just in time.
Finally Out Of Danger
When Hall arrived, she saw that the dog was very frightened — but thankfully, workers from nearby businesses had been feeding her. Thanks to a giant-hearted community, the dog wasn’t entirely failed by humanity.
That was at least one piece of good news. She wasn’t underweight, which made Hall’s job just a little easier.
As Hall approached, it became clear just how scared the pup was. She took her time, inching closer until the dog began to relax.
Once she felt it was safe, Hall gently unfastened the dog from the fence and scooped her into her arms. The pup was finally safe and on her way to the California shelter.
Though still a bit uncertain, it was obvious she was relieved to be rescued.
Hall is determined to find her the perfect forever home — one where she will be treated with the love and care she has always deserved. There’s no doubt that, when the time comes, this furry girl would make an excellent companion!
