While driving along a freeway in Rubidoux, California, David Loop — founder of the animal rescue Sierra Pacific Furbabies — noticed a strange dark shape near an exit ramp.
Concerned it might be an animal in distress, he immediately slowed down, pulled over, and hurried to investigate.
A wave of sadness washed over him when he saw it was a dog, apparently struck by a vehicle. The pup lay still, and Loop feared he had already passed.
But as he got closer, Loop spotted the faint rise and fall of the dog’s chest — he was still breathing. Without wasting a moment, he called his rescue team for help.
Shiloh Gets Emergency Care

Hearing Loop’s footsteps, the injured dog — later named Shiloh — lifted his head and looked at him. Terrified and hurt, Shiloh let out a growl.
Loop knelt beside him, speaking softly and assuring him he was safe.
Soon after, the rescue team arrived. They carefully lifted Shiloh onto a soft bed in their truck and rushed him to the emergency veterinarian.
On the drive, Loop stayed close, gently cuddling the pup so he would know he wasn’t alone.
Once Shiloh realized he was in caring hands, his body relaxed. At the vet clinic, his sweet nature quickly won everyone over. A thorough examination revealed no broken bones, but Shiloh couldn’t move his back legs, which was a worrying sign.
“The prognosis was not good. He had head trauma and complete paralysis,” Loop wrote on Instagram.
Determined to give him a fighting chance, the veterinary team provided round-the-clock care.

Their spirits lifted when Shiloh began responding to pain sensation in his back legs.
After a week in the clinic, vets decided he was strong enough to continue his recovery at Loop’s home.
Settling In At His Rescuer’s Home

Loop brought Shiloh home, where his family welcomed him warmly. Unsure if he’d ever walk again, they poured all their love and attention into his care.
“We hand-fed him so he could regain his strength. He was the best patient ever,” Loop shared.
Shiloh’s recovery plan included hydrotherapy, laser treatments, and plenty of rest — but it was the constant affection from the Loop family that made the biggest difference.

The fear in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by trust and joy.
When he wagged his tail for the first time, the family knew he had turned a corner. A few weeks later, they were overjoyed to see him try to sit up on his own.
“He’s an amazing little doggy [who] has a strong desire to live. He’s another miracle baby,” Loop said proudly.
Against all odds, Shiloh regained his ability to walk — and even run.
A Happy New Beginning

Just one month after his rescue, Shiloh met his forever mom — and leapt straight into her arms.
Thrilled to start his new chapter, he quickly bonded with his family. They adored him, and Shiloh’s eyes shone with joy.
Now, he spends his days playing with toys, enjoying the company of his doggy sibling, and living the carefree life he always deserved.
Thanks to the compassion and dedication of Loop and his family, Shiloh’s story turned from tragedy to triumph — a true testament to resilience, love, and second chances.
