Tyla had no idea what freedom felt like. Her life had been nothing but misery, chained to a crate and hidden away in an outdoor tent by an owner who seemed determined to keep her from the world.
With no escape, she curled up on an old baking sheet inside the crate—her only form of bedding.
Like every dog, Tyla deserved a loving home and the simple joys of life. But instead, her cruel owner robbed her of that chance, leaving her to survive on scraps tossed into her crate.

The Day Help Finally Came
Fortunately, word of Tyla’s heartbreaking situation reached the authorities. Police intervened, removing her from the abusive environment. Her owner was later charged.
Forgotten, Now Family Rescue, a dedicated group based in Charlotte, North Carolina—took Tyla under their care and rushed her to a veterinarian for urgent treatment.
Tyla was in a terrible state. Severely underweight, she also suffered from a painful paw infection and a fungal ear condition.
She was immediately placed on antibiotics and started a carefully planned feeding routine to help her regain strength.
Once her condition began to stabilize, Tyla moved into a foster home where her healing could truly begin.
Her foster mom, Avery Andolina, initially feared that Tyla would be emotionally shut down after everything she’d endured.
But the sweet pup had a surprise in store.
From the moment she met Avery, Tyla opened her heart and soaked up the affection she had been missing for so long.
“She saw us and like instantly wanted love. It’s almost like she had missed out on that for so long and she knew what she was missing that she was just like so ready for us to love on her, for her to love on us,” Avery told GeoBeats Animals.
Having spent most of her life confined in a crate, Tyla didn’t understand what a bed was. She avoided the crate at first and even destroyed anything placed inside it.
With time, patience, and training, she slowly adapted. Now, she comfortably rests in her crate when her foster parents aren’t home, finally seeing it as a safe space rather than a prison.
A Bright Future Ahead
In the beginning, Tyla couldn’t walk on concrete due to her injured paws, so Avery made sure to walk her on soft ground.
Over time, her paws healed, and she began enjoying her daily walks — one more step in her incredible transformation.
Avery is endlessly proud of how far Tyla has come. She considers her the perfect companion, amazed by her resilience and affection despite everything she’s been through.
“Even though Tyla was clearly mistreated by humans, has a rough past, she definitely does not let that affect her. She is still so loving towards humans and so trusting of them, which is just amazing that she is able to come this far,” Avery added.
Tyla is still living in her foster home in North Carolina, patiently waiting for her forever family. Although she hasn’t received any adoption applications yet, she remains hopeful that someone special will come along.
And when that day arrives, there’s no doubt Tyla will thrive in the loving home she’s always deserved.
