That’s exactly what happened to one woman from Georgia, who was heartbroken after being forced to surrender her beloved Pit Bull due to one of the most unusual circumstances imaginable.
A Painful Farewell
When Megan Frayer first welcomed Beauty into her life, she imagined they’d share many happy years together.
Beauty, a six-year-old pup full of energy and love, initially came into Megan’s care as a foster. But it didn’t take long before Megan realized this sweet, gentle soul belonged with her for good.
Beauty was one of the kindest, most well-mannered dogs Megan had ever met. But then, something happened that turned her world upside down.
She learned that her Georgia apartment complex had strict policies banning Pit Bulls from the premises — and many tenants held negative views about the breed.
Despite Beauty’s calm temperament and training, Megan was told she couldn’t keep her.
She tried to fight it. One idea was to officially register Beauty as an emotional support animal, which could override breed restrictions in some housing situations.
She even briefly considered hiding her, but her roommates were worried the risks were too great and feared the potential consequences.

Feeling devastated and helpless, Megan turned to TikTok to share her experience. Her story touched thousands, and many people chimed in with advice and encouragement on how she might be able to keep Beauty.

“Go back and get her. You can go online and have her registered as an emotional support dog in minutes. No housing cannot deny you after that. I’ve done this with my GSD in many places and states.”
While the logistics of this route may vary, it’s certainly a possibility worth exploring — and Megan’s followers were eager to help her look into it.

Of course, relocating isn’t always possible. Megan might’ve wanted to — but life circumstances often get in the way. It’s important to recognize that sometimes, options are limited no matter how much we wish otherwise.
