In the vast sea of abandoned dogs that end up on the street, only a small number of fortunate ones manage to find their way to a new home.
Most of the time, dog abandonment stems from disinterest, lack of time or experience, or a sudden change in life circumstances.
Some doggos, however, wind up on the street because their owners simply don’t know how to handle a unique situation—like in the case of Qwerty.
He was clearly a much-loved dog, but because of his rare short-spine syndrome, his owners didn’t know what else to do but leave him outside a local shelter with a heartbreaking note.
Roadogs To The Rescue

Qwerty Cosmo waited outside the shelter, hoping staff would notice him, and when they finally did, they could hardly believe their eyes!
He’d been left with a note, written by a child, that read: “I love my dog. Please don’t hit him. It’s a boy.”
The shelter team immediately contacted Nikki of Roadogs Rescue in California, an organization dedicated to finding loving homes for dogs with special needs. When she heard Qwerty’s story, she didn’t hesitate to step in!

Although Roadogs Rescue typically places dogs with their volunteer foster homes, Nikki chose to bring Qwerty into her own household.
She wanted to learn firsthand about his temperament and how his condition affected him, so she welcomed him in.
Right away, Qwerty proved to be a friendly companion. Despite his unusual appearance, he showed no general weakness or additional health problems.
He was visually unique, but he lived his life fully.
He embraced every moment with enthusiasm, bonded easily with other dogs, and savored each second of his foster adventure!
He loves his daily walks, running freely along the beach, and chasing balls alongside his foster siblings.
Though he can’t scale the couch or run without tiring, Qwerty is entirely content with his simple pleasures.
And Nikki beams at the thought that soon, he’ll bring joy to a lucky family!
Just a few weeks after he arrived for fostering, the perfect match appeared!
Off To The Perfect Home

A wonderful family from Florida fell head over heels for Qwerty as soon as they saw him online.
Julie and Scott already had a female dog named Cuda, who also lived with short-spine syndrome, and the resemblance between the two was striking!
“There’s no denying Qwerty Cosmo and Cuda’s similarities,” Qwerty’s new owners wrote on Instagram.
Sadly, Cuda had crossed the rainbow bridge a few years earlier, and the couple was grateful for the chance to welcome another beloved dog into their home.

Qwerty settled into his new home as though he’d been part of the family forever! His new humans and canine siblings helped him adjust instantly, and he revels in being one of the pack.
“He will never be let go of again… He is ours now and forever. And to his former people: He is safe. Thank you for leaving him where you did instead of some remote area. Still, I wish you could have gotten help. Your dog was very, very lucky to be rescued. Not many are,” his new owners wrote.

Today, Qwerty lives an extraordinary life. He greets new friends daily, plays joyfully with his siblings, charms cats and dogs alike, and offers boundless love to strangers!
His family chronicles his adventures on their official Instagram page. Once an abandoned boy with a precarious future, Qwerty is now the happiest short-spined dog on the planet!
