For Jordan Fiegen, a kind woman from South Dakota, a cold March morning seemed like an ordinary day without the hint of surprise waiting ahead.
However, when she spotted a strange-looking crate in a trailer park in the vicinity of her parents’ house, she knew that something was wrong and hurried to investigate.
Once she discovered its contents, she felt devastated. Seven tiny puppies curled up in the crate were shivering from the cold.
Because it had rained the night before, the crate was half-filled with muddy water, and the puppies’ white fur was stained and grimy.
Fiegen was relieved to find that all the puppies had survived, and she was determined to help them.
Puppies Feel Relieved

She suspected the little furballs had lost hope of rescue because they did not cry out. They were utterly silent, perhaps resigned to their fate.
The woman realized she had no time to waste. It was bitterly cold, and the puppies urgently needed warmth.

Fiegen learned that the puppies’ mother was a neglected dog living with her owner in the same trailer park.
She attempted to notify the owner about the pups but could not locate her at first.
Later, Fiegen spoke with the owner, who agreed to surrender the puppies.
The big-hearted woman gathered up the pups and carried them inside. She and her family gave them a gentle bath and worked to keep them snug and warm.

Once cleaned, the puppies looked completely different, their coats gleaming snowy white.
Exhausted from their ordeal, the tiny furballs quickly fell asleep, in desperate need of rest.
A wave of relief washed over Fiegen as she realized the puppies were finally safe and sound.
Thriving In Foster Homes

She could not hold back tears imagining what they had suffered before she found them.
“I just sobbed over them not knowing what they just went through,” Fiegen told The Dodo.
Fiegen reached out to Almost Home Canine Rescue in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and they agreed to take the puppies into their care.
Once the puppies felt stronger, Fiegen took them to the veterinarian, who performed a thorough exam, administered flea treatment, and dewormed them.
The seven fur babies—named Bert, Bluey, Ernie, Bingo, Bear, Nova, and Kona—were placed with three different foster families.

Their caretakers lavished them with affection, and within weeks the puppies blossomed and revealed their unique personalities.
“They are all very playful. They definitely came out of their shells after they were all bundling together and barely showing signs of life,” Fiegen added.

The puppies continue to thrive in their foster homes and will soon begin their search for forever families.
I’m confident that these delightful fur babies will find their perfect homes in no time.
