Sadly, abandoning dogs is hardly new. Though we all understand that the love of their favorite person means everything to these furry souls, there remain heartless individuals ready to betray their pets.
Hope For Paws rescuers, based in Los Angeles, California, witnessed this cruelty firsthand after learning via text of an abandoned dog at a construction site.
When Katie and Alex arrived, they immediately saw that this poor Husky was pregnant, which broke their hearts further.
Yet their sorrow quickly turned into resolve to do everything possible for this canine mother and her unborn children.
Ready For The Little Ones
The moment they reached the spot, Katie and Alex attempted to slip a leash around her neck.
Sadly, the frightened pup, later named Mallory, had lost faith in people after being stranded by the one she loved.
Instead, Mallory guided them to her den, where she planned to give birth. There, feeling slightly safer, she allowed them to secure the leash and lead her to safety.
Back at their Los Angeles facility, Mallory was greeted with open arms and abundant love from the rescue team.
But knowing time was short, they promptly took her to the vet for a check on her puppies.
An X-ray confirmed that Mallory was carrying seven little pups. The team rejoiced at the news and set about preparing her for the big day.
They treated her to a soothing bath, numerous embraces, and boundless love so she would be in optimum condition for delivery.
Simultaneously, generous donors contributed via online campaigns to support her care.
When an ultrasound indicated that the puppies’ arrival was imminent, Katie brought Mallory home, where she arranged a cozy bed and soft blankets.
The following day, Mallory gave birth to seven vibrant, healthy pups.
Three girls and four boys greeted the world, bringing the biggest smile to Mom’s face.
Happy Times
Mallory was overjoyed that all her babies were healthy, never leaving their side. She nursed them, showered them with kisses, and vigilantly protected them.
Alex eagerly assisted Mallory through those critical early days, vital for a joyful puppyhood. She cherished the experience, her heart swelling with love for this growing family.
After three weeks, the seven pups blossomed into lovely youngsters. Missy, May, Michelle, Marvin, Miles, McCoy, and Mahomes thrived at Hollywood Huskies, the rescue’s foster home until forever families were found.
Thankfully, the perfect conclusion arrived when Hope For Paws announced via Facebook, “Mallory and her puppies were all adopted.”
Despite the hardships at the outset, the puppies enjoyed a joyful early life and, alongside their mother, discovered forever homes.
Without the compassion of kind-hearted people, their fate might have been very different.
