That same spirit of curiosity led a group of young explorers from Chicago, Illinois, to begin visiting and documenting abandoned sites across the country. They share their discoveries under the name LordExplores on social media, giving people a glimpse into forgotten places and their eerie histories.
One day, they set out to explore an abandoned hospital near Chicago. But shortly after stepping inside, what began as a typical exploration turned into something far more unsettling.
Get Out
The group hadn’t been inside the building long when they started hearing strange sounds echoing through the halls. As they followed the noise, they quickly realized it was barking — loud and frantic.
The barking led them to a room with a glass window. Peering inside, they spotted dogs crawling on their hind legs, barking relentlessly as if terrified of something beyond the door.
At first, the explorers assumed the dogs had been left behind. But as they looked closer, they noticed something odd: supplies were neatly arranged inside, and a chair was propped against the door — clear signs someone had been living there.
In a video shared on Instagram by @lordexplores on November 2, 2024, one of them can be heard exclaiming, “Get the hell out,” before they both turned and quickly made their way toward the exit.
The footage quickly went viral, drawing attention and confusion from viewers. Many couldn’t make sense of what they’d witnessed.
“Could it be kidnapped dogs kept in there?” one user speculated. Another commented, “Obviously it’s not abandoned.”
A third user pleaded for more information: “What is the update with the dogs!!!!!”
A Chilling Update
Soon after, @lordexplores posted a follow-up video to clear up some of the confusion and share what they had learned.
Though initially shaken, the explorer later confirmed that the dogs appeared to be healthy and well cared for, showing no signs of neglect or abuse.
But he also noticed something unsettling while reviewing the footage: one of the dogs repeatedly looked away while barking — as if someone else was inside the room with them.
This detail added a whole new layer of mystery, leaving Instagram users even more curious and concerned.
In an effort to help, the explorer returned to the hospital a few days later, hoping to bring the dogs some food and water. But when he arrived, the room was completely empty. No dogs. No supplies. No trace of anyone.
And just like that — the trail went cold.
What truly happened in that room remains a mystery, and it may stay that way.
