Dog Waits 700 Days In Texas Shelter With No Luck Until Everything Changes

Shelter pups spend their days dreaming about the world outside their kennels, wishing for the love and comfort that only a forever family can give.

Many of them end up waiting in shelters for months or even years, hoping someone will notice them and give them a chance.

Maror was one of those pups whose wait stretched on far too long.

This lovable dog spent over 700 days by the door of his kennel, hoping each visitor might stop and choose him to take home.

Even after all that time in a shelter in Edinburg, Texas, Maror held onto hope that one day his wish would finally come true.

Matzo And Maror’s Journey To Find A Home

The shelter staff always believed Maror would make an excellent companion.

He was housebroken, affectionate, and loved spending time with people. All he needed was someone willing to give him a chance to prove just how special he really was.

But finding a home wasn’t so simple for Maror, because he had a kennel mate named Matzo the shelter hoped he would be adopted with.

The two had arrived together at the Edinburg shelter and formed a strong bond right from the start.

Because of this, the staff didn’t want to separate them.

As more time passed and no home came for the pair, the team began to think about whether placing them separately might increase their chances.

Aileen Betancourt, the shelter’s adoption specialist, shared a touching  video of Maror on her TikTok account, @lifesavingpixie. She regularly posts about shelter dogs in need of homes.

In the video, Maror stood quietly in his kennel, looking up at Betancourt with eyes full of longing. It was as if he was silently asking her to help him.

Matzo tried to comfort him with a few gentle sniffs, but Maror kept his eyes fixed on Betancourt with the same sorrowful expression.

“We know how hard it can be to find a home for bonded pairs, so while our hearts ache at the thought of separating them, our biggest hope is for either pup to find a loving home — even if it means they go separately,” the video caption read.

A Happy Ending For Two Texas Shelter Dogs

The emotional clip touched many of Betancourt’s followers, who were heartbroken by Maror’s expression.

Then, on April 14th of 2025, Betancourt posted the update everyone had been hoping for: Maror and Matzo’s wish had come true.

The two dogs left the Texas shelter together, grinning as they hopped into the transport car.

They were on their way to their forever home, where a loving family was waiting to welcome them both.

From now on, Maror and Matzo will spend their days surrounded by love, just like they always dreamed.

And I couldn’t be happier for them!
