Anyone who has ever owned a dog knows that they can be pretty sensitive to things that we humans can’t actually see.
Their eyes are much sharper, their hearing and their sense of smell are so much better than ours. This allows them to detect things that are hard for anyone else to see.
Sometimes, they will even start growling or barking at something in order to warn us of the dangers, and I think that’s remarkable.
When this California owner took her German Shepherd for a walk, she noticed that he paused next to a storm drain, but she had no idea why.
What Did He See?

It was an ordinary night for this dog owner, Tiffany Holm, who was just walking her dog through the neighborhood as usual.
They were enjoying their time together, when her German Shepherd, Bruh, suddenly paused, when he noticed something that spooked him.
There was a drain on the street, but there was nothing there. She couldn’t figure out what frightened Bruh so much.
She looked around a little bit, but she couldn’t figure out anything. This was a safe neighborhood. If anything happened, surely, someone would know.

They went back there again the next morning, while it was daytime, and this spot still scared the dog.
Tiffany contacted the sewer department and the police. The officer told her that they could only investigate it from above ground, but the sewer department could go down.
When she asked the sewer department, they told her that they would only investigate it if she had seen or smelled anything unusual there.
While her inquiries remained unanswered, she still thinks that her dog’s instincts were not wrong. Nevertheless, she will now take a different route when walking her dog so he doesn’t get scared.
Opinions On TikTok

Tiffany wanted to get an opinion from people online, so she posted the video about this issue on her TikTok channel, and people had some interesting things to share.
One person commented: “He’s a German Shepherd. If he says no then it’s a no, I’d believe him no matter what.”
I definitely agree that it’s worth trusting our dog’s instincts since they are much better at detecting danger than we are.
Another person said: “A year ago my cat cried in the middle of night scratching our backdoor and running back and forth to my room. He was usually so quiet. Turned out someone was trying to come inside our house and hiding behind that backdoor.”

Now, that is just scary and it once again proves the point of how sensitive animals are to things that would fly above our heads most of the time.
Lastly, somebody commented: “A German Shepherd can smell over five million different smells, I think he got something.”
This is actually somewhat true. Because their smells are so much better than ours, I feel like anything they detect is worth investigating.
Still, I am not sure if this California mystery will ever be solved, but one thing is for sure: Tiffany will never walk her dog through that area until it’s resolved.
