California Rescuer Aids Dog With Badly Injured Leg, Then Learns Even More Devastating News

Dogs are not meant to be breeding machines.

Far too often, irresponsible backyard breeders ignore this truth. Rather than protecting these innocent animals, they use them solely to fulfill selfish motives, mostly driven by profit.

When they’re done with these dogs, many are dumped in terrible conditions, left to fend for themselves without food, water, or shelter… completely vulnerable.

That’s exactly what happened recently in California, when a dog named Lady Bug was abandoned by the very person she trusted. Thankfully, she didn’t stay alone for long…

Lady Bug’s situation was heartbreaking. She stood on a Southern California street corner for hours, silently pleading with strangers, her sad eyes telling the whole story.

She was not only left behind, but her health was in a terrible state. Her paw was extremely swollen, and she was infested with fleas. The pain she endured must have been excruciating.

“Begging for help on a street corner. Her leg so swollen, infected and painful. Covered in fleas and her sad droopy, cherry eyes, and used for breeding,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.

Thankfully, Lady Bug’s presence didn’t go unnoticed. Longtime California rescuer Suzette Hall and her rescue team quickly took action to get her off the street.

Because of Lady Bug’s gentle temperament, bringing her to safety was surprisingly easy. It was as if she instantly sensed she was finally safe.

Within minutes, Hall had her secured in the car, ready for her next step: a veterinary evaluation.

Sadly, what they found was worse than anyone expected.

Veterinarians discovered a hard growth on Lady Bug’s leg that required more testing and future treatment. For now, they were only able to clean the wound and apply a protective bandage.

“We’re going to wash the wound and bandage it and then it’s going to be weeks and weeks of bandage and wound care to get it to heal and hopefully grow new skin,” Hall stated in an update post.

As if that weren’t enough, Lady Bug was also diagnosed with a mammary tumor. Once she’s strong enough, she will undergo surgery to have it removed.

This brave pup has a long and difficult healing process ahead.

“She has a big road of healing and surgery ahead of her,” Hall concluded.

Even with everything she’s been through, Lady Bug’s sweet and cheerful personality continues to shine. She still greets people with affection and love.

With a bit of time, we hope she’ll make a full recovery and begin the next chapter of her life in a warm, caring home.

Stay strong, Lady Bug. Everyone is rooting for you!
