Having a dog is one of the most rewarding experiences we can enjoy. They bring so much joy into our lives simply by being present, and there’s always something new they can teach us.
Life takes on a whole new level of excitement when we have a pup by our side. One of my favorite things about dogs is how they each develop quirky habits meant just for us.
My dog, for example, used to spin in circles every time I walked in the door. I never quite figured out why, but it always made me smile.
In Kobi’s case, the Michigan dog’s habit is even more adorable—and a recent surprise twist made it extra sweet.
One Funny Greeting Says It All

Kobi always gets excited when his humans come home. His usual way of showing love? Rushing to the door with a toy in his mouth.
His parents never tire of seeing it. This little tradition is one of the many things they love about him. But not long ago, something a bit out of the ordinary happened.
Kobi’s mom returned earlier than expected, and the pup didn’t have one of his favorite toys nearby. He had to improvise—quickly.

With no toy in sight, Kobi gently grabbed the name tag on his collar with his mouth and sprinted to the door to greet her.
His mom found it so funny that she couldn’t stop laughing. It was just another example of how dogs don’t need much to melt our hearts.
Caught up in the moment, Kobi didn’t care what he had in his mouth. He only wished he’d had his usual toy to show off.
Still, the moment was too good not to share, and his mom quickly posted it to her TikTok channel.
TikTok Couldn’t Get Enough

Unsurprisingly, Kobi’s moment of silly joy went viral. After all, there’s no shortage of love for sweet, funny dogs on TikTok.
One person commented: “Winston loves to do this too! Except his last resort is his tail that he tries to bring to us.”
Winston clearly deserves points for creativity. Using your own tail as a gift is definitely thinking on your paws.
Another person said: “Displacement behaviors!! Dogs do this when they’re so overwhelmed by emotion they don’t really know what to do with themselves! one of my dogs grabs a toy and the other gets so happy she growls lol.”

That sounds exactly like what was going on with Kobi: just a dog so full of love and excitement he couldn’t help himself.
Lastly, somebody shared their experience by saying: “Omg that’s so cute, my dog does that too!! Grabs the first thing she sees, her pillow, our shoes, she once even dragged the cats bed with the cat laying on it.”
Scrolling through these reactions reminds us how many dogs share these small but unforgettable rituals. They’re little things, but they mean the world to us.
Kobi clearly has a heart full of love and a family who adores him. Here’s to many more joyful greetings—and hopefully with a toy next time.
