It’s not every day that you come across a dog in such heartbreaking condition that rescue help becomes urgent.
While situations like this don’t happen often, taking action can make all the difference in a dog’s life.
That’s exactly what a group of kind strangers did when they came across a mama dog with a striking appearance who clearly needed help.
Without hesitating, they contacted the Arizona Humane Society, and the team responded without delay.
A Coat That Caught Everyone’s Attention

After receiving the distress call, rescuers arrived at the scene not knowing what they would find. What they saw left them stunned.
There, tied to a very short leash, was a mama dog named Rainbow Brite and her nine puppies. They had no access to food or water, and the conditions were terrible.
To make things worse, Arizona’s intense summer heat meant they were suffering through unbearable temperatures.
What surprised the team even more was Rainbow Brite’s unusual, spotted coat that looked strikingly like leopard print.

It appeared that someone had altered her coat to resemble that of a wild animal. The rescuers approached the owners to ask if they were willing to surrender the dogs, considering their poor living situation.
The owners agreed, explaining they didn’t know how to properly care for them. While it’s still unclear how Rainbow Brite got her unusual spots, the priority was getting the dogs to safety.
The Arizona team transported them to the AHS Lazin Animal Foundation Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital, one of the country’s top hospitals for homeless animals.
Recovery Begins At The Hospital

Once at the hospital, veterinarians began treating Rainbow Brite, first working to reduce her body temperature.
She was also significantly underweight, so the team provided steady nutrition and hydration to help her regain strength.
Fortunately, her condition began to stabilize, and it seemed that both she and her puppies were on the road to recovery.
After some initial care, they were transferred to the AHS Mutternity Suites, and Rainbow Brite’s story began to spread online thanks to the efforts of her rescuers.

By sharing her story, the team hopes to raise awareness and increase her chances of finding a permanent home for her and her puppies.
In the meantime, they’ve been placed in a foster home where they can adjust to normal life with caring people.
Since the pups are still quite young, they’re not yet ready for vaccinations and will need some additional time before they’re made available for adoption.
When that time comes, here’s hoping each one finds a loving home where they can finally live the life they’ve always deserved.
